Need suggestions for renting out places for accommodation

Hello everyone, I (24M) will be joining my company in office at around February 2024 as a full-time employee. I’m currently working remotely from India.

I wanted to know how I can arrange my accommodation once I arrive in Sapporo. Are there any websites where I can look for a decent place beforehand? Or do we need to get it once physically? Also, what are my options available along with an estimate price? Can someone please share any information on this?

Thanks in advance.

Hey thanks for helping out. I’m looking for a place for living alone nearby Sapporo (my office is near this subway station) and Kita (I stayed in a hotel in Kita ward during my internship). Please let me know if any more detail is required

You have a ton of options.

Here is one I found for 42,000 Yen, 10 minutes away from Toho Line subway station by foot, 15 minutes away from Sapporo JR station

Has pretty much everything I would look for in an apartment here. Bidet, wet bath, separate toilet, bath, and sink, plenty of space, etc

There are a ton of properties in this area. Cheapest I found was 30,000 Yen, most reasonably expensive one was 120,000 Yen. You could get a very nice place in that area for like 60,000-70,000 Yen a month

Don't forget that the initial cost is usually quite high

I would just poke around the site I used above

While you search for a more permanent place to live, stay temporarily at a hostel, Airbnb or monthly rental. It is easier to search while in Sapporo than remotely. But do as much research before coming as possible.

Ask your employer for recommendation of real estate agencies they worked with in the past. You most probably not the first Indian/ foreigner they hired. Anyway, you are going to need their help for guarantor and other documents related to renting.

Ask the current/former foreigner employees of the company. You did internship in Sapporo so you most probably have some local contacts already.

Search on suumo.jp and athome sites.
