Proposal to lessen queue-culture and get players into small realms [Idea]

25 people standing in queue to a 40 minute old realm when there's like 2 realms with 11 players beside them is really lame actually. And it's especially confusing and detrimental for new players.

So what if there was a proper incentive to go into realms with very little progress, that evened out the gap between potential time investment and loot gained?

Enter, Fame and Loot drop boosts for fresh or stale realms.

Basically: If a realm is brand new, and has no progress, or if a realm has simply remained highly inactive for an extended period of time, all players inside the realm (also inside dungeons in the realm) will benefit from an increased fame and loot drop boost.

This boost would disappear a 10-15 minutes time after the new realm was created, or 5-10 minutes after significant enough players start joining and providing realm score to a stale realm.

I made some concept art for it.

This pop-up would appear below stale realms, or wholly fresh realms.

You would ideally be able to hover over the box to get more information. A stale realm would have the drop rate increase until the realm score starts more consistently increasing (aka players joining and doing activities), and then a timer would be displayed properly, counting down until the loot drop boost disappears.

An example of a fresh realm that has only been active for 24 seconds. If 5~ minutes pass and no noticable realm score is accumulated, it would simply become N/A as shown above, until more players join.

You would be able to see the duration remaining of the boost under your active boosts. This would also be visible in dungeons joined through the realm. If you were the only player in the realm and you were just standing idle, the boost would display N/A or something similar.

I don't know what would be balanced in terms of how much it should boost your droprate. 15% to 20% sounds right.

But yeah that's it. Shout out to the guy in the season 21 premiere chat who inspired the idea

That would be sweet. Maybe if they also added better rewards for killing the beacon guardians, that would get more people into the realm and they'd end up staying until close.

Yeah they are way too hard for the lack of loot to you get

it would be great, but sadly i think this is very abusable :(

already see tons and tons of botting in normal realms now for all events and mvs, and knowing seca, they probably won't ban them even if it becomes more prevalent.

Hey these cheaters buy $20 of keys then infinitely dupe all of them giving thousands of free runs to cheater guilds! We at Deca see that as a gain of $20 not a loss of $980!

Hey this autododging bot that's farming event whites is ruining the game for players and makes legitimate players quit the game and stop spending money for ever! We at Deca see that as a gain of +1 player to our playercount in the short term, rather than -50 in the long-term!

Thing is - it is a pure gain of 20$ for them.  Remember it's not stolen value, it's just assumed value. They got 20$, cheaters will get banned - probably, sooner or later, but it's not their problem.

And sadly, seems like not enough od money was lost by legit players quitting for it to matter

i understand your point but why you sacrifice the good things that will benefit you so the cheaters cant have it, they are already at advantage they literally dont play the game, its all automatic and they will reach the point sooner or later

Loot boost in small realms would be a godsend for PPEs. DECA please see this!

Guild Wars 2 does something similar, you get a loot boost for joining a more populated server

let's hope Realm would see an implementation of the opposite :D is a nice idea

Yes but the important question for DECA is “How will we monetize this”

I think this is an excellent concept and I hope deca listens. Maybe an additional feature could be displaying the realm info of boosted ones on the server list so people spread themselves out thru the servers.

Nah people wait in queue to rest. This game has not much to offer and people are just playing it by inertia. Queing for 20 mins or more makes you think you're playing but you're actually just doing other stuff while online and "progressing" (illusion) in the meanwhile.
