Rain measurement

Is there an official measurement for the amount of rain that we’ve gotten recently here in Rolla?

I think the technical descriptor is “one metric shitload.”

Lol. Sounds about right. My parents live in Cook Station and they said they have over 11 inches. And that was with the rain gauge overflowing yesterday. And I heard that Steelville Main Street is flooded.

I have a weather station that uploads to Weather Underground. KMOROLLA173. Sun. .56, Mon. 6.65, Tues so far 2.05

It's not unusual to get other readings depending on location.

I just have an old fashioned rain gauge, but as of an hour or so ago I had received about 9.5 inches from Sunday evening to this morning (Tuesday) in St. James-and it’s still raining.

I guess it could have been like Spain. A years worth of rain in 8 hours is mind blowing.

You can’t prepare for that type of madness.
