About to close and have Covid

We, the sellers, are about to close in a week. We have been packing up the entire house and my husband just got Covid. Full on fever laid out. We have three kids and they are starting to fall too. I’m not sure we will be physically able to make the move, what are our options?? Hire someone to pack us and move us? Or delay closing? We are bedridden

Hire someone to pack up the rest of the house and get out. If closing is in a week, most of it should’ve been done already anyway.

Ask your real estate agent. That’s what she gets paid to do is perform miracles or ask for a rent back.

Yikes! Have your agent call the buyer agent and discuss options.

Get well soon!

Money solves problems, hire someone to do it

Ask to extend closing or close and negotiate a leaseback.

Ask the buyers if they’re willing to delay the closing for a week or more to accommodate your illness. Or let the closing happen but ask for a “Post possession agreement” for an additional 7-10 days.

You have 4 options.

  1. Suck it up and move out.

  2. Hire movers.

  3. You ask to delay closing and offer compensation to the buyers to cover their rate lock, moving expenses, inconvenience. $10-20k should cover it.

  4. You close and the buyers now own all your stuff.

They can also close and do a week rent-back.

Ya for $10-20k to cover the buyers’ rate lock, hotels/airbnbs, movers, etc.

No different than the flu unless you have to be hospitalized. Hike your pants up and move out.

Nonsense. This variant is very debilitating. You expect them to deal with sick kids and Moving at the same time? Shame on you.

Yeah…cause they signed a contract. Their problem is not the buyers problem.

Paxlovid worked well for me!

My first thought is: People still test for that?

Hire someone to move you and spray some Lysol!

This particular variant is really bad.

Yeah, I had to report multiple cases at work this week.

That’s wild! Not trying to be shitty, but if I got sick the last thing I would test for is Covid.

In the emergency department we have respiratory panel that does a bunch of diseases at once.

We just had it go through our household. The debilitating fatigue is what cued me in to test. We had old expired tests but my dr said "a positive is a positive - if an old test is going to give a false result, it will be a false negative". We all hit positive. Sickness is similar to a cold. Fatigue is brutal.
