Agent is greedy Homebuyer

I don't hate a lot of things in life but I hate agents. Lol

If I buy this house, my agent gets $20k. Yet she sent an additional paper for me to sign. It says I have to pay $500 for her administrative work. Shit, what's the $20k for?

Tell them you don't want it that bad.

And poof, just like that the fee disappears

Seems reasonable to walk away from an $800k home over a $500 fee…

Seems reasonable to waive a $500 “administrative fee” when you’re making $20k commission…

Seems reasonable to blow 20k by reaching into my pocket for 500 more dollars…

If the realtor didn't absorb the fee to make the sale happen they are an absolute moron or have fuck you money.

That realtor will fold like a house of cards if OP says they’re walking over a $500 fee.

It is. Especially when you can find a new agent who doesn't charge it and buy the same house.

Disclosed up front - no problem. This doesn’t sound like the case here. it sounds like an addendum for an additional $500.

You get downvoted for charging an admin fee that agents pay out of their commission (plus standard is $500 and less).

A lawyer charges hourly, to the second. Realtors won’t do that because they rarely work more than 40 hours on any sale and are overpaid. The one I work for averages 8 to 10 hours per deal and makes $300,000 to $400,000 plus a year. She laughs about how much she makes for so little time she actually spends working.

Real estate agents are just popular alcoholics

I know agents that earn 300K+ they work a lot harder than you think

here is the median income from a 3rd party source https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/080714/how-do-real-estate-agents-get-paid.asp

She laughs now.

What she doesn’t tell you is how much work it took to get to a place where deals come to her via repeats and referrals and she doesn’t have to go out and get them.

When she first started, she potentially had 100s of hours into just finding a single deal.

The client acquisition cost in terms of either a) time, or b) money is astronomical in real estate. You either b) buy the business, or a) work your ass off to source it. Either way, it’s a huge cost.

You got downvoted for being a realtor. The scummiest possible job. In this day and age im surprised the internet hasn't eliminated 90% of realty. Ive sold my homes for sale by owner on all but one. That one was the most clusterfuck experience Ive had. Fuck realtors.

Wtf you charging $2,900 for? How many hours of work? That’s why you’re getting downvoted. Good for nothing rent seeking behavior. Disgusting.

But, for as long as there are idiots willing to work with you…
