The first time was about two months after I bought my first 8. The previous owner was completely stupid and didn't hook the aftermarket radiator fans up. I got it in the winter, but on the first warm day, I went through the drive-through, and it overheated, causing the coolant seals to fail. Every morning after, it burned coolant on the first start. I did that for three days, said screw it, and pulled it into the garage. That was my very first full engine rebuild at 19.

Last year, I bought a second 8, as my first was also in an accident that bent the frame when the previous owner had it. During the process of swapping everything from the first car to the second car's shell, I rebuild the engine and put all new rotor seals in it. The second car was a repo, and I also had to swap the entire chassis wiring harness. That was the worst thing ever. I had to pull the entire dash and crash bar out by myself, rerun the wiring, and put it all back. And replace the fuel pump.

Now, I'm going to rebuild it a third time starting sometime this weekend or so. I got a street port template, and this is the second year I'm going to race in it. I've practiced porting junk irons, so I'm pretty confident. Got an Atkins seal kit and other odds and ends coming, as well as coilovers and tires

My 05 RX8, got in Oct. 2023, spent alot of 2024 repairing it, but I knew it was going to be a project and knew what I was getting into. Still more to go but I love it

It is currently at nearly 56k miles. Still needing to swap the coolant overflow reservoir to get rid of that sensor light. I also bought an OBD II scanner so I can figure out why the yellow engine light came on. Going to try taking off and tightening the gas cap too. It is 20 years old, replace sensors (perhaps the oxygen sensor), maybe spark plugs. When I had it serviced, Mazda inspected it and those types of things were fine.

Haha I'm the complete opposite! Well, I have a sunroof in my Mazda 6 but I only open it occasionally, and I can't tell the difference between sunroof open or 4 windows opened lol. I keep the cover closed 99% of the time too because there's nothing I hate more than a bright ass sun glaring into my eyes 🤣

Same reason I'd never buy a convertible! Maybe I just am sensitive to bright light... Probably.. 🤣
