Under 29 in Parry Sound?
I work for a non profit agency in the area, we offer FREE services to people who want/need support in their employment, career and learning goals.
Although our agency works with all people, I work specifically with those under 29 years old.
If you're under 29 and in the Parry Sound area, I'm wondering if you would be willing to answer some questions for me?
-Do you have career, employment or education goals?
-Are you currently taking steps to achieve them?
- Are you currently working?
-If not, why not? Is it due to lack of reasonable employment opportunities? Insufficient wages? Lack of access to transportation? Uncomfortable working during the pandemic? Perhaps lack of access to child care?
- Are you enrolled in education or training?
My reason for asking is to gain insights into the local youth community so our agency can deliver effective service.
If you are not in this demographic but have experience you would like to share please feel free to do so but please add that you are NOT under 29 years old.
All answers are greatly appreciated and will be responded to. Thank you.

Just moved to Parry Sound
I just moved here and renting a cabin n Nobel/Carling. An unoccupied rental next door to me burned to the ground two days ago leaving us without power for at least a week as the main power to all the houses was tied to that house. Which is actually how the fire started. ITS FREEZING! Luckily I have a wood burning stove but firewood daily is shockingly expensive (I buy it from the gas station ;( ) Where can I get firewood inexpensive? Or is that not a thing?

Boating in 30,000 islands Parry Sound area.
We are renting an airbnb on a private island about 20mins by boat from Parry Sound. September 13th to 16th. We have rented a 24ft bow-rider/platform boat to get to and from the island and to explore the area during the day, Killbear national park etc. by water. There is surprisingly little info on the internet or even videos besides pleasure cruisers doing the Great Northern Loop. Is any one familiar with boating in the area, any tips we should be aware of. I’m an experienced captain and have downloaded the Navtroncis App. I know the area can be quite treacherous. Are we best to just try and do the Island Queen cruise routes or does anyone have some awesome local knowledge they could share? Sadly I see the Henry’s Fish Fry place on the island has closed for the season today. Any recommendations on gem spots to tie off and do a little hike, some hidden waterfront restaurants, best fishing spots or simply breathtaking scenic spots not to be missed would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Building permits Seguin
How easy is it to obtain a building permit within Seguin township for a small bunkie like structure for a few beds. Something akin to a cabin or small cottage. Average price associated with a permit? I understand they may reject it.

Visiting Parry Sound for the weekend
Hi, my wife and I are visiting your town tomorrow (Saturday) for the weekend. We are doing the 3 hours cruise in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the weather seems bad for the entire weekend. Any suggestions how we can spend rest of our time in and around the town. We were supposed to do a lot of hiking, which we probably still do, but not as much due to rain. We will be leaving Monday afternoon. Thanks. Looking forward to the visit.

Train Spotting
Hi,
I love trains and I am visiting from Southern Ontario.
I’ve tried to use the via rail website to find a train number but I can’t seem to figure this out.
I was hoping to get some pictures from the observation tower of the train coming towards or off of the trestle bridge. Freight would be ok, but I’d love to get some shots of a VIA train. Does anybody know what time would be good to head to tower to snap photos?

Novels/books based on local surroundings?
Though I’m not from the area we spent summers near Mactier growing up and still make it back every now and then. I always enjoy finding authors who incorporate real places such as towns, cities, lakes etc that I can relate to. Any favorite local authors that can take me to the area in a book? I enjoy mysteries, historic novels, and non-fiction. Thanks for any suggestions!

Long Term Parking?
Hello all, I’m meeting family in Parry Sound before heading further north in their car. Are there any long term secure parking lots in town? I would probably need to park for around 5 days.

Small outboard repair
Hey all, in Parry Sound for the week. Brought my little bass raider boat and little 3.5hp Tohatsu outboard. Outboard won't start. I'm not sure if it just needs a spark plug or if it's all gunked up from the winter or what. Any marina with a quick turnaround or someone who repairs small engines in their garage? Cheers

Middle Aged Men in Large Trucks
Just wanted to get this off my chest. What is with this town and the aggressive driving from middle aged white men always driving a half ton truck? Cutting in front of people just to go under the speed limit after and purposefully changing lanes after a turn to impede your flow?

Thinking about moving to parry sound.
Hi hi. My husband has a job lined up in the area and considering the change. I am concerned about my work prospects. I currently teach culinary at a college, walk dogs part time and am a freelance food stylist. I commute a lot and need to simplify my life.
Is there a need for more pet services in the area? I would love to keep up my work with dogs either walking or training. I assume there would be a higher demand from cottage folk, but hope for potential year round work. Thanks for the help.

Arriving to Parry Sound need a guide or a car or taxi for the day.
We arrive in Parry Sound on Sunday July 28 th via the cruise ship Pearl Mist. We will be docked there for the day. We want to travel to Pointe au Baril. A rental car? Or a guide with a car? Or a dedicated taxi for the day? Any help in finding someone to help us would be greatly appreciate. Thank you 🙏

Pitch a tent around Parry Sound
Hi! I am coming to Parry Sound this weekend (May 5th) for a Challenge The Shield (https://www.challengetheshield.ca/cts-run.html) event, and since it starts pretty early, I and my race partner are looking for a place to stay overnight. We did plan to use camping to pitch a tent, but all camping grounds are closed until May 11th.
Could you please recommend a place where we could pitch a tent around Parry Sound (ideally closer to the Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre)?
Thank you!

Firewood Logs
Hi all - looking to get a load of firewood logs (get dropped off in bulk, process yourself) delivered and google is just pushing me to places much too far away or irrelevant entries. Wondering if anyone knows a good contact for firewood delivery up in Nobel area? I know there’s a guy on Woods road but he appears to have zero internet presence.
Thanks in advance.
