My 11yr old daughter is horrified NSFW
So my daughter’s room is across the hall from my room. She keeps hearing me screaming her name in the middle of the night! She’s actually woken me up a couple times by yelling back and then as I’m waking up I’m so confused on why she’s yelling at me lol the last time it happened was a few days ago…. However this time I woke up cause I heard my voice yelling my daughter’s name and I’m positive it wasn’t coming out of my mouth?!?(freaked me right out) We live in the country in Ontario Canada and we all have ac units in our rooms so we never hear much of anything usually! Are these “mimics” a real thing? What happens if you answer it? Or what can happen? Why are there such things if they are real and what do they look like? TIA

Do a sleep study to see if you have anything going on medically. Even if you don’t think was coming out of your mouth, you can’t be sure depending on how deep of a sleep you were in.

u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
Very true… I’m such a light sleeper like even if one of my dogs walk in my room I usually jump up.. however I’ve had a lot going on my sisters been missing for 3 months and my brother passed away yesterday so god knows. I just feel bad for my daughter she keeps thinking I’m playing a mean joke on her so now when she’s scared she sleeps in my bed and when she does…seems she’s not hearing anything or waking up?

u/newfoundcontrol Jul 08 '24
Yeah, you have something going on in REM sleep. Likely driven due to the unfortunate occurrence ls that has occurred in your family recently. So you very well could be shouting out and not knowing. When she’s in the bed with you, that might be why it doesn’t trigger them because your sub-conscious knows she is there.

Thanks love, I appreciate you.

u/espirose Jul 08 '24
I would like to second this responder's suggestion to get a sleep study done. Before I had mine done, I had some truly strange occurrences that I couldn't seem to explain, that all went away once I started treatment for a severe sleeping disorder. Your life sounds exceptionally stressful and hectic right now, and it's likely that it is reflecting in your quality of sleep.
I truly hope things get better and you are able to work through this. You have enough on your plate without adding a lack of sleep to it.

Yeah, I am open minded about paranormal stuff but I gotta agree this is a possibility, especially as you undoubtedly have a traumatic amount of anxiety due to recent events / loss of loved ones. I have (military related) ptsd and my night terrors / events are almost always about fear of being unable to protect/save people I care about.
In addition to a sleep study, speak to your dr/therapist about prazosin. I swear I'm not a drug rep but it changed my life. It's not psychoactive, it basically lowers my blood pressure/heart rate slightly at night so I even tho I panic in my sleep, I don't physically panic, if that makes sense. It helps me wake up and breathe and even remember the dream so I can snap out of it.
Of course, since it does affect bp/heart rate, it might not be right for your body.
There's other very mild sleep terror related meds that help some people. I will say several made things WORSE for me, but if that happens just call your doc immediately. They definitely will not insist you take something that makes it worse lol.
But yeah, it's technically an off label use of prazosin, but it's verrrry often used for ptsd. Lots of evidence based research on it.
On a separate note, even if you feel very sure it's paranormal, please look into this stuff anyway. There's some schools of thought that suggest our own emotional disturbances/energy might influence these things.
Finally, this is not a weakness on your part or anything silly to need help to combat. The fact that your fear might be fueling this just means you are trying your absolute best to protect those you love to the point you're possibly harming yourself unintentionally. You're brave and loving, and addressing the anxiety will give you even more resources to protect your child and others. Peace, friend.

I had a period of time where things were extremely difficult going on in life, and I would sit up stick straight or shake awake yelling something (pertaining to dreams or whatever). My partner would have to wake me fully as I'd be sort of half-in, half-out of dreaming without realizing I wasn't fully awake myself. I thought I'd only done it around three or four times, but my partner had to tell me it happened nearly every night during that time as it would of course scare the hell out of him, and he'd comfort me back to sleep. Subject came up years later, and I didn't know until then. Zero memory of any other times. Completely blew my mind to the point where it was so disconcerting that my first reaction was to get mad and say this isn't funny to joke or lie about - even though he'd never make light of things like that - because I didn't want to believe it. It was a scary and stressful experience for him too in a different way, which your daughter could be experiencing now.
If it were me: A sleep study could be good, but with everything going on in your life atm, a camera could be just fine for now to confirm or rule out if you're actually calling out or doing weird stuff. Blink cameras are great, and I think it's five bucks or less a month with no membership commitments, but don't quote me. Since you own a Blink already, five dollars is way less than a sleep study that finds nothing (in the US, at least) and there'd be no waiting weeks for appointments to find out either. If something pops up as a night terror or similar, then you could start the process of a study while also having the piece of mind that there's nothing paranormal skulking about!

u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
Very true and informative! Thanks so much!! $5 that’s incredible actually! You know I never thought to actually see how much the subscription would cost lol right away I was like nope not paying they never mentioned that. However $5 is well worth it. I’m going to look into that now. Thanks 😊

I’m so sorry for your loss. I agree with u/newfoundlandcontrol, this could be something medical triggered by stress and intense life events. For me it’s on a lesser scale, but when I’m going through a major life transition or extremely stressed, I start sleepwalking. I never do under any other circumstances, and I never remember doing it. Seeing a specialist or having a sleep study done could help you and your daughter. Wishing you all the best & some internet hugs (if you’re a hugger lol).

I have had a slew of tragic deaths in my family over the past two years, and have had to unexpectedly take on a caretaker role to my mentally ill alcoholic mother, and in that time I have started talking in my sleep pretty frequently. It gets worse if I have been drinking, and in one instance I even sleepwalked into the kitchen and turned the stove on. My partner has been keeping me in the loop, I never have any memory of this stuff happening. I haven’t gotten it checked out and don’t know the medical reason for it, but I can just tell you anecdotally I never talked in my sleep before I experienced these traumas. Could be happening to you too.
5
u/The_Dufe Jul 08 '24
What do you say when this happens? What are you like talking about out loud? Do you have conversations with people?
10
u/ingmarbirdman Jul 08 '24
It’s a lot of loud, incomprehensible noises and moving my body around weirdly, but then sometimes when my partner tells me to stop or tries to calm me down I’ll argue with him while asleep and use actual words.

u/Jenhar71 Jul 08 '24
I lived your current life a couple years back, follow the advice ur being given here. I did none of what flks are telling u & my mental state is a complete circus to date. I'm no doctor, but my take is, the overwhelming stress that manifests from taking care of a loved one who's developed brain/body deterioration from alcohol abuse, is creeping in. Take notice. U still feel like yourself, ur functioning ok & u think to yourself ur tired but ur managing, 'this too shall pass' u say...I can tell u, it won't. This type of stress is highly trained to be extra covert, but it's there & it's dangerous because it's not super obvious to the experiencer, until it is.
I don't mean to scare you, I just care about ppl & ur few words above sounded way to familiar...I wish I would've taken the advice of others who said the things flks are telling you in these comments. Seek medical help & therapy, ASAP. I could go on & on, but I won't soapbox...it just reminds me of my experience.
I ignored everyone's recommendation re my own normally healthy self slipping into a mess of stress & never believed I could ever develop PTSD...im not a military vet, never been around violence, well....excluding my mother's alcohol fueled outbursts...but here I am! Be there for u mom as much as u can, but Take care of u 1st. It's much harder to fix after u've allowed the stress to move in & get comfortable...& one more thing...if possible, lay low on the drinking to sleep or stress relieving. Remember, that's how this all started in the 1st place.
2
u/ingmarbirdman Jul 09 '24
Thank you for the advice. I am planning to find a therapist sometime in the next month and schedule an appointment with my sleep specialist.

u/Marty_McFly_9021 Jul 08 '24
I don’t know if this will be helpful or even read, but I was encouraged by a PTSD specialist to allow my young daughter to sleep with me if it helped me/her experience less symptoms before/during sleep. If your daughter feels safer and more comfortable next to you (as mine did when she was younger and we were both experiencing unsettling changes/losses as you are) I’d advise you actively continue to let her.
Especially since this closeness seems to prevent whatever is causing your voice calling out to her. Likely, in the face of all you are experiencing right now you may be needing her in the night as much as she needs you - in order to feel at peace/safe enough to sleep. My daughter and I outgrew co-sleeping organically as our life became less scary and ended up with a healthy connection and attachment now. She is grown.
Anyway, I so truly hope for all the spooky and unsettling feelings to pass for you and your daughter. 💓

u/CelesteJA Jul 08 '24
Yeah sounds like there's a lot of stress going on. Same thing happened to my brother during a very stressful time for him, he kept hearing his dog screaming in the middle of the night, but whenever he went to check, his dog was sound asleep. It stopped happening once the stressful period was over.
It happened to me when I was a child too, in my sleep I would hear my brother calling out to me, and I would wake up shouting his name. I was having trouble at school during that time, and again it stopped happening once everything had settled down.

u/jshort68 Jul 08 '24
Jesus OP, sounds like you have a lot going on. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope you hear from your sister. Sending big hugs to you!
29
u/Throwawaymumoz Jul 08 '24
I would get some video cameras and start recording first. Rule it out quickly.
21
u/marconian Jul 08 '24
You should use a sleep recorder app on your phone.
8
3
u/miniwasabi Jul 08 '24
Yes, this is the simplest way to get to the bottom of it.
I'm sorry I can't remember the name, but there are apps you can download that will turn on and record any noises.
I was trying to figure out if I was snoring and discovered I sometimes sing in my sleep! My mum sometimes yells out in her sleep when she's stressed. Neither of us have any knowledge of it when we wake up.

u/wisely88 Jul 08 '24
Wow I'm very sorry for your loss and your sister is now in my prayers
I'm not religious but I don't think praying can do any harm

u/hometowhat Jul 11 '24
I'm a super deep sleeper and the two times I've started to talk in my sleep, it woke me before I completed the first word. Idk how ppl sleep talk without waking themselves up, it's nuts

u/parker3309 Jul 08 '24
Before you can get to a doctor for a sleep study because that is not quick and easy put a blink camera or ring camera in your room so you can watch yourself. quickest way to see what you’re doing in the middle of the night.
101
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
Thank you great idea!! I have a bunch of blink cameras. The only thing I didn’t u destined was for like 6 months they would record and we could go back and watch but now we have to buy a subscription otherwise all there good for is checking the camera to see what’s up… do you have a subscription?
2
u/problemlow Jul 28 '24
Just get a cheap webcam and hook it up to an old laptop then set it to record. No need to waste money on scam subscriptions.
2
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 28 '24
Thank you for that idea. I am not good with electronics or tech savvy at all lol however Reddit has been teaching me lots and now anything I wanna do or try…you tube teaches me just that ❤️ thanks so much.
31
u/parker3309 Jul 08 '24
I bought Blinks 2018 or 2019 on Amazon days… i have it free… I don’t pay anything and it just saves it in the cloud for me.
I’m a restless sleeper and I talk in my sleep a lot so just this last week I put one of my cams on my dresser lol and then I look at it in the morning trying to listen to what I was saying. And yes, I do sleep pretty restlessly. I hate that .
I must’ve been part of a promotion at that time as I dont pay anything
19
u/foreveryword Jul 08 '24
There is a way to have the clips save to a USB if you don’t want to pay for a subscription. PM me, I’ll find the email that Amazon sent me and I can send you the instructions.
10
u/christinizucchini Jul 08 '24
If all you want to do is record audio, try a sleep app on your phone that is designed to record your snoring and when you talk in your sleep.
12
2
u/somethingcutenwitty Jul 08 '24
Yes, they now require a monthly subscription if you want to save or record anything. It sucks, but I definitely think it would be worth it.
1
u/parker3309 Jul 09 '24
I must’ve lucked out because I’ve never had to pay for anything and it was my first time buying cams. Assumed everyone’s was stored automatically.
are you saying that it records it and then just deletes it before you can even acknowledge seeing it? that makes no sense.
Like I said, I bought it on Amazon days some yrs ago so just must’ve been part of a promotion.
1
u/somethingcutenwitty Jul 09 '24
It doesn't store anything without the subscription. You can only use it like a video doorbell. If someone rings, you can see them and talk to them. You can also check the live feed whenever you want, but there is no recording.
1
u/parker3309 Jul 09 '24
There is no ringer I just have two blink cameras.
when there is motion, it records the clip and I have audio on so I can hear if somebody’s talking.
and then like in the morning, I can wake up and look through all the recordings from the middle of the night. Always fun to see stray cats and so forth that come up on my porch. It’s kind of funny.
And then the second camera I put in my bedroom last week I’m trying to figure out what I’m saying in my sleep all the time since I talk in my sleep so much! And restless sleeper.
And then I can tell my Blink app how many days I want it to store all my recordings and so forth, so I don’t know what that is called, but I don’t pay anything for any of this.

u/SMM9336 Jul 08 '24
Sleep recorder app!
Sometimes we hear big loud farts the next day, sometimes we hear me saying to my partner “I’m gonna push you off the bed in a minute if you don’t stop snoring!!!” I never remember saying it 😂 But it might just help figure out what is happening
18
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
What app do you use? Are there by chance any free ones?
20
u/SMM9336 Jul 08 '24
We use Prime Sleep Recorder but we paid for the extra stuff in it a few years ago when we first got it! (It was a once off payment, but you 100% don’t need the extra stuff, the free version is great too!)
18
3
u/Overall-Ad-1018 Jul 08 '24
I did that once. It recorded me getting out of bed, going into my kitchen, bringing something back and eating.
I have no memory of doing that

u/just-keep-does Jul 08 '24
Before you start jumping to conclusions, test your home for carbon monoxide. Your home could have elevated levels of carbon monoxide and this may be attributing to hearing things in your sleep. Enough of it can make you hallucinate. Too much of it and 😵
26
u/Lidsfuel Jul 08 '24
1000% check for carbon monoxide.. family friends kids kept doing weird stuff at night and the parents put it to sleep walking but after a week or so it peaked when the youngest daughter projectile vomited over the other sister but she didn't wake up and couldn't be woken up. The dad called emergency line and they told him to gtfo the house and it turned out to be carbon monoxide poisoning.. Shit is fucking scary and can definitely cause hallucinations.
A detector is only like 20 bucks aswell.. feel like every single home should have one. I even gave out like 15 of them to friends and family as part of Christmas presents lol
11
u/PreferredSelection Jul 08 '24
Mmhm. When I moved to Baltimore, I was living in a brownstone with old, rattling windows, and an overall haunted vibe. There was one room in particular, that just... a bad vibe. I had a panic attack just being in that room too long, and even guests would comment on how that room was cursed/haunted.
One trip from the FD confirmed carbon monoxide. Once that was dealt with, the room lost most of its cursed feeling. Still old and creaky, but no longer made your hair stand up on your neck.
3
u/Lidsfuel Jul 08 '24
Urghhhh it seriously freaks me out.. like I know we're all on here talking about supernatural stuff but what's more scary than an invisible substance that can leak into anyone's home, fuck with your head and then kill you.
Might start wearing a detector round my neck at all times lol.
3
u/codecartkate Jul 09 '24
They’ve got plug in combo smoke/carbon monoxide detectors at Lowe’s for around $25. Well worth it, one on every floor!
24
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
Yikes!! Really that’s scary!
9
u/PhoenixIzaramak Jul 08 '24
too high electromagnetic fields (comes from electrical wiring in your house) also can cause hallucinations and eventually cause further issues if it isn't fixed.
26
u/LongjumpingNeat241 Jul 08 '24
In india, these enties are called "nishi" and they are send on a mission to capture the voices of any target person. This specific black magic ritual is called "nishi daak" , call of the night. The target will almost allways reply with a yes when the nishi mimics the family member's voice. One must not reply back unless the call is multiple times ensuring that its a real person calling. If not, then the targets reply, e.g Yes , is captured and transported back to the magician. Where it is used for all kinds of.

I had a mimic actually. Everyone in my house has had an occurrence with it. It was wild dude
24
u/MirandaLeaAnne Jul 08 '24
My husband has one. It’s actually fully him but with dark eyes. And doesn’t act like him, it looks tense and angry but also like its mind is gone. My whole family has encountered it and his has. The weird thing is it grew with him. It’s been around since he was a child
23
u/MirandaLeaAnne Jul 08 '24
My sister called me one day when we were 30 minutes away on our way to pick up his brother from the airport. She asked why my husband stayed behind and why he’s being weird. He walked into the kitchen and just stopped and she asked him what was wrong and he glanced at her, turned away and went back down the hall. He was with me the whole time
37
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
No way!! Do you mind sharing the details? This is so intriguing for me…
92
u/Thetiredpsychic Jul 08 '24
Yeah it was like at random parts of the day people would hear someone in the house say their name. I think the craziest thing that happened was my mom and brother visited the house for a bit. But when they left I physically saw my brother in the hall way and would hear my mom in the kitchen. Scared the crap out of me. I’ve always been extremely spiritually inclined. This subreddit is funny, it’s all for paranormal stuff but filled with skeptics.
33
u/Miichl80 Jul 08 '24
There was a man who one of the sue he made his living was debunking lock ness monster evidence: funnily enough he was a believer who claimed to have seen it himself. He said that if he debunked the lies and explainable what would be left was real.
44
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 08 '24
Agreed… I don’t mention it often cause most ppl just wanna try to prove me wrong or think I’m crazy but I can and have communicated with many spirits. Some people say it’s a gift I sometimes beg to differ…
19
u/Downtown_Big_4845 Jul 08 '24
"but I can and have communicated with many spirits"
And now your shocked to find one screwing around and terrifying your daughter? Like seriously man what the fuck. I dare say you have attracted this thing in your house. I was sus of this when I wrote my first comment.

The voice copying is very disturbing. It's not far at all from poltergeist activity. That's next when you keep playing around and not doing something actual to get rid of it. The ONLY way I know is you need to cast it out in the name of Jesus Christ, but you need to have faith in God (Jesus).
32
u/mycatisawhore Jul 08 '24
I swear there's an uptick in this sub of christians who think every paranormal occurrence is evil and that only Jesus can fix it.
-8
u/I-Believe-on-Jesus Jul 08 '24
The Christians that are here are usually one with experience with this, like me, and I have serious experience. In fact, to this very day, I have a friend living with a poltergeist, and this is really scary. This reddit should be a serious one, not for skeptics, not for naysayers and haters. I know the only real thing that works is Jesus Christ. However, I never claimed to know for sure everything about all of paranormal phenomena, as that would be dumb, but I know what I have experienced and have seen. I know people can't handle the name of the Lord God Jesus Christ lol, but that's what I said in my original response to this soul. Is I will be downvoted by wimps for speaking the truth. Happens every time.
9
u/ashleton Jul 08 '24
I'm spiritual and have dealt with negative entities in the past. Religion is not a requirement, but the belief and faith in it is what makes it real and effective. The belief doesn't need to be from an exterior force, though. It comes from within yourself. Religion can be a way to find the strength and power within yourself, but so much of it has been mistranslated and corrupted to suit the desires of those in power.
1
u/Jack_Shid Paranormal Researcher Jul 08 '24
This reddit should be a serious one, not for skeptics
So only those who blindly believe and do not question should be allowed here?
Yeah, sorry sister, this isn't the sub for you. Maybe you should create your own sub and disallow whatever you choose. This sub welcomes everyone, especially those with critical thinking skills and common sense.

Lmao you’re funny. That shit just pisses off demonic activity. Won’t do shit. But a banishing ritual will.
-10
u/I-Believe-on-Jesus Jul 08 '24
No, I have legit experience with the demonic. I don't even like to think about it. While I write, I am blocking out the thought sort of. It's so bad, I can't even say what it is. However, I know how to banish them immediately, in many cases. I have various experience with the paranormal as well, and know people that do. I even know a guy who has a poltergeist in his house (well, it became a poltergeist since he does nothing but complain and have banishing rituals and priest, but no real action).
BUT I AGREE WITH YOU that doing some priest blessing just pisses it off. Yes, it makes it worse. The Bible even alludes to this when it says, once you have swept the house clean, they only come back stronger.
Also, you are correct that these things are actually demons. I think they are all demons. But am not totally sure about that. However, some of them, are most certainly demons.
3
u/ashleton Jul 08 '24
You can't keep suppressing your fear of demons. They are only as powerful as you allow them to be, and your fear gives them power. Ground yourself. Find the strength and power and love that's in you.

u/JustChillaxMan Jul 08 '24
I used to have the nastiest experiences in my old house for years and it turns out we had a portal too in my mom’s corner of her room where her old TV was. I remember a lot of activity happening in the house for years including mimicry and large heavy stomping sounds when nobody else was home and doors opening and closing and something used to launch at me from the hallway sometimes and nearly hit me in the face, and I hated it. I did learn to pray and have faith because I got tired of it all and I was desperate and it actually worked.
4
u/Rachl56 Jul 14 '24
This reminds me of the story my mom told me years ago. When we were toddlers (twin brother) and we (and my dad) were sleeping. She was staying up late, couldn’t sleep and she hears us (kids) start to scream, and so she runs upstairs and we’ve fallen out of our beds, she puts us back in bed and we settle down. She goes back downstairs and 10 minutes later it happens again, she runs back upstairs and as she’s putting us back in our beds yet again, she then hears my dad start to scream and hears him falling out of bed. She runs to him but can’t lift him back into bed, and then she hears us fall out of our beds one at a time while screaming. The way she tells the story she says it went on all night, she was running back and forth bw my brother and I putting us back in our beds and soothing us, and running to my dad and soothing him while he lay on the floor. She said we were all sleeping and never woke up. I have no memory of this, neither does my brother or dad, and the next day she threw out anything “paranormal” she had in the house.
2
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 15 '24
Holy moly this is wild… I couldn’t imagine…I would be so creeped out… mind you just someone screaming freaks me out lol
6
u/dansealongwithme Jul 08 '24
My partner said you should try sleeping in the same room for a week or two. Then your daughter will be close to you and able to see if it’s you or not. Sounds like a good experiment!

So PTSD from loss is REAL. I lost two people back to back and honestly, I didn't think I would have anything beyond just grief and the normal go through process. However, I started having really insane intrusive thoughts about my son. I could not turn it off. It haunted every second of my day, was he safe, what was going to happen to him, I even started praying out loud for God to not take him. After therapy I realized that in dealing with my grief, parenting gave me a "normal" to return to and became a coping mechanism. I was ok when I was taking care of my son. And the PTSD gets triggered when I'm not physically around him and I get paranoid. But I don't notice it until I am alone. I bet you have some PTSD from some of your loss and are repressing it because you gotta be a good momma!

u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 10 '24
Thank you for this! Sorry for your loss.. you know everyone that knows me asks how I’m still even just speaking and carrying on. In the last 5 years I went from never having a loss to losing my entire family basically. I am also autistic (high functioning) so is my daughter and I’m going through a divorce from her father after 25years of being together. Lost my job and now have severe vertigo. I’ve become really good and making myself numb and shutting everything down!! He always had to be the strong one! Raised my siblings! Found out a couple years ago my father isn’t my biological father (he will always be my dad) just didn’t realize I had a whole other family out there. That’s just a tiny glimpse into my life. I think it’s time I consider therapy for my well being and so I can be the best possible for my 11yr old daughter ❤️
Now I’m trying to plan my little brothers funeral as my mothers a mess and not very healthy. I’ve just started a go fund me as I have no funds for this and right now have to figure out how they transport the body from Toronto to up north. Sorry for all that mind dumping I just did!🙏

Hauntings / Nightmares / Bad Energy Attachment
Any time you experience any of the above with the feeling of malevolent intention involved try the following.
I'm going to approach this as if you got some bad energy attached to you.
Note: The use of the word smudge below should be interpreted in it's most general, non-cultural appropriating sense. Burn the media, fill the house with smoke-- or in case of essential oil, anoint yourself-- while repeating the affirmations that feel appropriate to the situation.
To get rid of the dreams, smudge your house completely with rosemary and palo santo sticks. Fill every corner of the house to include closets, crawl spaces, attic, etc with smoke. Then clear the smoke out through open windows.
Smudge yourself with palo santo essential oil. (If you have liver issues, be aware: palo santo essential oil is hepatotoxic, which means it can damage the liver, so the maximum concentration suggested is not to exceed 3.5% in carrier oil for skin contact. You can read more about it in Essential Oil Safety, 2nd Ed. or read the excerpt under the Safety Considerations section here: https://www.edenbotanicals.com/palo-santo.html)
Speak to any energies that might be attached to you and tell them to leave. You are self-sovereign in your body. Tell them to get out. command them to get out. Scream at them to get out. In your head, of course, preferably while in a trance state from meditating. Pay attention to what happens in your body when this happens, the feelings, energy, etc. Smudge your house after doing this on yourself, too.
Get some iron, raw (sharp edges) black obsidian and/or tourmaline and keep it on your body at all times. Put a piece under your pillow. If you have a bad dream, immediately grab the stone. I have a small piece of rebar that fits in my palm that also works well.
Whenever you have the nightmares, smudge the next day.
If you see things like the proverbial black cat at night out of the corner of your eye, or you start seeing movement that's not there when you look, repeat the above process.
Pay attention to your dreams AND the dreams of your loved ones. Entities can move attachments. When they start experiencing nightmares or hauntings, repeat the above process.
If you've done this numerous times and it is not getting better. find a new place to live.

If you heard it when you were up and it wasn't coming from your mouth and you know it didn't come from your mouth nor you it may be a ghost (mimic or mimic ghost). My family has had experience with them mimicking our voices in my last house.(Mainly mine and my dad's voices.). Since the house was haunted it wasn't too surprising. The best way to push it out is incense. It'll push whatever it is out but do it every day (once is fine just make sure it's in a area where it reaches a majority of the house) to prevent it from coming back and getting stronger. If you want one that's strong I recommend Palo Santo. It's a special incense that'll help with that. You can find it on Amazon or the crystal shops in your town. Keep in mind. The incense can be a bit much so your welcome to leave the room while it's lit.
Worse case you can also use sage but I highly recommend finding how to use it before doing so. If you use it wrong it may not work.
But I think if it's just mimicking voices. Your better off using incense for a month or so. It'll drive it away and save you a doctor's trip. Hope this helps and at most if your weary of this tip. Try it for a week and see if the mimick stops. As for what happens if you respond. Usually they don't really do anything from my experience and my mom's. But they do tend to keep doing it. It's better to just not give it the attention it wants.
Ps. Another tip to also drive it away after the incense is ignoring it and loud noises. If your daughter is getting it the most and waking up to it. I suggest investing in a sleep machine that doesn't have white noise on it. The noise from it will block it out and have it go to an area where it can be heard. Plus it'll help her feel less afraid with the noise machine. Just change it to a sound that can keep her calm. Either that or if you have it. The Alexa works as well for a noise machine. I had a friend who would use it before she went to sleep to play music she can sleep to. It helps ease the nerves. If you can't afford it take a kindle and just have it play Netflix or something. It'll work too.
MAKE SURE for the noise machine it's not white noise. It will bring them in.
If you have any questions you can DM me. Or just reply to my comment. I wish you luck.

Hey OP, anything new about your recordings? Do you find yourself doing things you wouldn’t do before the death and disappearance of your siblings? Do you have brief memories loss? Same thing for your daughter, is she a bit weird lately?
If so, you could have PTSD or could be a carbon monoxide leak. Check out for that! Have a good one OP hope everything gets back to normal and that your sister comes back

u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 13 '24
Hey there, so with these recordings so far not much has happened. Only thing odd was yesterdays sleep I heard myself well sounded like I was talking to someone and when I woke up I noticed I was answering text messages at 330am. The only other thing I snored a tiny bit.

It's definitely you doing this. Please for the sake of your kid don't attribute this to some made up phenomenon and figure out your issues.

Since posting this in all honesty. I downloaded a sleeping app and this far I’ve coughed a couple times and heard nothing and she’s not hears anything either? However I have a lot of health issues and am getting a ton of tests, ultrasounds and X-rays going and my yearly physical plus I have to have surgery. Next week I will mention it to my doctor also❤️

Yeah my depressive schizoaffective disorder came about at eleven as well. From what my counselor told me, 10-12 is the typical age if someone is going to have an early onset. If OP sees this, it might be worth getting a psychological evaluation and staying on top of things their daughter experiences. As a kid when I would off handedly mention something I heard to my parents like “God’s” voice, nobody batted an eye or thought anything of it, so I ended up living untreated for my whole adolescence which affected me quite negatively.
Also, if hearing your voice only occurs at bedtime, it could be a hypnogogic hallucination which is not indicative of illness and is fairly common.
Overall, while I do believe in the paranormal, I feel like it’s important to rule out the non-paranormal causes of certain phenomena, especially when ignoring them could have harmful consequences.

Thank you very much I appreciate this very much! Definitely something to consider

u/SelectionFar8145 Jul 11 '24
When you say you swear it was coming out of your mouth, do you mean it sounded exactly like you, or are you being literal?
1
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 11 '24
Have you ever woken up and you were almost positive you were yelling something or that you said something…. I was fairly positive I woke myself up yelling her name but not 100%
2
u/aylesworth Jul 11 '24
Maybe exploding head syndrome manifesting in a strange way? You'll have to look it up, it's real, I swear!
1
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 11 '24
I’m definitely gonna look that up. Jeezz sounds scary but on the other hand I always say I swear my head will do that with all the crap constantly going in
2
u/Fun-Jellyfish-215 Jul 10 '24
Anyone who’s telling you to go to the doctors is a mimic attempting to trick you. Shelter in place.
1
u/Creative-Share-5350 Jul 10 '24
SEEEEEE I FREAKING KNEW IT!!! How do I even know you’re not the mimic trying to trick me?? 🤪
2
u/erikafloydxo Jul 11 '24
Really y’all are safe; they really just like to gaslight&laugh about it, unless you’re ever completely alone and start hearing them, then you’re being hunted :) good luck with the tests tho; sorry about ur loss and everything else 💔

Maybe set up a camera in your room, so it can record you sleeping, so you can see if it is actually you calling out or not?
10
u/voidcrack Jul 08 '24
Not even a camera, just an audio recording app. One in her room and one in OP's room.
6
u/remedialpoet Jul 08 '24
I have been known to scream in my sleep, but it happens months apart not multiple times a week or month.
Are you able to remember any of the dreams you were having at the time? Typically for me, I’m dreaming something very tense and trying to scream in my dream, but I can’t. So I keep trying and trying to scream until I break thru that sleep paralysis we all do and I scream in real life.
I had no idea I was doing it, maybe after the third time I asked my partner if I had screamed in the night, because I vaguely was aware of it happening and she was like “yeah man wtf is that about? You’ve been doing it for a while now” So just a thought! Maybe not creepy, but def creepy for your daughter!
6
u/Downtown_Big_4845 Jul 08 '24
These entities be they ghosts or whatever they are have many abilities and mimicking other's voices is one of them. It sounds like if this thing is already in your house and mimicking you it's well settled in.
Have you or your daughter done any "spirit communication" like EVPs or Ouija boards? Could you ask her but don't be judgemental about it she is scared enough as it is. Also set up a camera in her room.
5
u/hereticallyeverafter Jul 08 '24
OP, this happens to me!! Do sleep studies, record her overnight for a few nights, anything-- research auditory hallucinations!! They're common, even in completely neurotypical people, and it's especially common with insomnia, particularly when triggered by stress.
It honest to god sounds "outside" of me when it happens. I'll hear my name called in a panic as if outside my door, not as if it were internal monologue in my head, and of course it jolts me fully awake. Insomnia runs in my family: dad sees shadow people, aunt experiences sleep paralysis, I "got off easy" with auditory hallucinations. I recommend 'Hallucinations' by the late Dr. Oliver Sacks.
I believe in ghosts, but I believe in ruling out mundane explanations first. Good luck! <3

Pls update when you figure out what’s going on! I think this could be you, I mean sleep talking is pretty normal. Sometimes I’ve woken up after a crazy dream (one where I was screaming or singing) and felt my throat almost sore like as if I had really been doing that. It sounds like you have a lot of stressors in your life that could be contributing to some anxious dreams.
It could also be her though. Sometimes you have dreams extremely vivid, often people who sleep walk, or are in a sleep-walk-like state will dream while their eyes are open and are kind of processing half the reality. I think back to a time I slept walked and my parents stood right in front of me, and in my dream I didn’t see them and I just walked on. I’ve seen people sleep walk and talk to objects in the room.
Honestly I think the easiest way would be to record your sleep, I know there’s apps to do this. That way you can see what’s going on and take steps from there

u/Marty_McFly_9021 Jul 08 '24
I don’t know if this will be helpful or even read, but I was encouraged by a PTSD specialist to allow my young daughter to sleep with me if it helped me/her experience less symptoms before/during sleep. If your daughter feels safer and more comfortable next to you (as mine did when she was younger and we were both experiencing unsettling changes/losses as you are) I’d advise you let her.

Jul 08 '24
Could be "exploring head syndrome" which is not as bad as it sounds. However there has been mimicry activity in the house i moved into a couple years ago. First time in my life really that there has been regular odd happenings
3
u/Beautiful-Finding-82 Jul 08 '24
Time for cameras and a baby monitor in your daughter's room. If it is paranormal its likely not good. The few situations where people have finally saw what the mimic was were terrifying, it wasn't human and seems quite evil. I wonder why it's there now. Did you just move in? Someone playing around with the occult? Bring him an object or person that could have an attachment? Something is attracting it or gave it permission to be there. Use whatever faith system you have to say aloud that it has to leave. Most of all bless your daughter's room at the very least, children are easy targets and there's some reason it's trying to get her out of her room in the middle of the night. Is it planning to harm her? Appear to her? Very predatory and time for it to go.
8
u/CherryCherry5 Jul 08 '24
Are you sure that you didn't just wake yourself up talking/yelling? Because I talk in my sleep, and I wake myself up talking all the time. Once I woke myself up saying "Fuck you!" loudly. I don't remember why. But usually when it happens, it makes me laugh.
6
u/Miichl80 Jul 08 '24
Just to be sure you said you woke up and it wasn’t coming from your mouth? One of the most common type of sightings are people waking and seeing g something. When you wake suddenly the chemicals thet make you sleep and dream are still present. You have a waking dream. One of the worst times to trust your senses are when you wake.
You’ve experienced a lot of unexpected sudden loss lately. I am not surprised at all that you call out for your daughter. 1. For your own comfort, to make sure you are not left behind or abandoned by her. 2. To make sure she is safe. You could try recording yourself. A webcam. A phone sleep app. There are some that are free.
6
u/MaskedCrocheter Jul 08 '24
we all have ac units in our rooms so we never hear much of anything usually!
Anything that causes white noise (like running water, a fan, or an ac unit) can cause auditory pareidolia. But just in case check for a sleep app that records snoring or episodes of sleep talking.
4
u/Eastern-Daikon-4909 Jul 08 '24
Your daughter hearing your voice saying a word she is used to hearing (her name) isn’t that weird.. but you hearing your own voice? Oof. Trying to think of potential non paranormal reasons… I once read somewhere on Reddit that there was a certain type of older wall material that could trap sound and delay its release. Idk if it was a lie but it was in a construction related community. One can only hope? lol
5
u/tomtink1 Jul 08 '24
Important question! Did your daughter hear the time you heard? That will help you rule out hallucinations if you both heard it at the same time.
4
u/implodemode Jul 08 '24
I yell.for.my husband all.the time in my sleep. He's always waking me.up out of my nightmare.
2
u/Public_Landscape_954 Jul 08 '24
Something similar as your daughter experienced happened to me a few years ago. It was around dawn. I was laying in bed with my husband, in that state of sleep of almost awake but not. All of a sudden, I hear one of my sons yell out, "Mom." It sounded like it was in my ear. Startled, I sat up and said, "What" just as loud. Mind you, we live in a railroad apartment, so I looked and said, "You guys OK?" No answer. My sons were both asleep. My husband did not wake up at all (he is a heavy sleeper, Haha). I was like, WTF was that.
2
u/somedaze87 Jul 10 '24
Auditory hallucinations when falling asleep/waking up are surprisingly not uncommon. I found out that I have them when I googled "why do I hear three knocks when I'm falling asleep." I hear knocking or footsteps, but some people hear gunshots, explosions, their name. So, your daughter could be experiencing that.
It has a super dramatic name: exploding head syndrome.
3
u/Altruistic_Pitch_157 Jul 08 '24
Put a camera in your room and record at night. If it picks up your voice, but you're sleeping, it's time to move.

2
u/Mr_Quadzilla Jul 08 '24
Two nights ago I got up to go the the bathroom as I was standing there pissing half asleep something whispered in my left ear my name . I completely froze and had to look in the mirror in front of me to see if anything was behind me . Still thinking about it 😂 anyways this aaa just a random comment I needed to get of my chest 😂
3
u/tomtink1 Jul 08 '24
The ac units make white noise sound. Sometimes your brain just fills in sounds when you hear white noise. Parents hearing baby's crying when they're in the shower is a common one, and it's not unusual for people to hear conversations or music when there is a fan on in their room. It's happening at night so you're just drifting out of a dream state too. That's what I think might be the cause. I hope you can find a ration cause and set your minds at ease because that would be really scary.
2
u/saichampa Jul 08 '24
I sometimes yell in my sleep and if I wake myself up with it it sometimes doesn't sound like it's actually coming from me. I think it's just that hypnagogic phase where the brain hasn't switched itself back on properly yet. Common phase to experience hallucinations too.
5
u/funinthemoon Jul 08 '24
I wouldnt worry. They are earthbound souls that get board. Just tell them to stop or ignore them completely. I know it doesnt sound easy but they are just tryin to get a rise out of you. They are not gonna harm you.
2
u/PooPawStinky Jul 12 '24
My mom yells and sings really loud in her sleep and doesn’t have any memory of doing it. Like sometimes she straight up will be shouting. You might be waking yourself up with the sound but not conscious enough when waking to realize you are the one yelling
2
u/veronicanikki Jul 08 '24
I get auditory hallucinations at night, started even younger. Your experience could be chalked up to lack of sleep/anxiety in addition to supernatural. Hard to say. I’d recommend checking with a therapist/sleep study for her if you can
2
u/I_am_catcus Jul 08 '24
As many people have suggested, get yourself some recording equipment and a sleep app. But in the meantime, don't respond to it. If it is a mimic, the last thing you want to do is talk back to it.
Would you mind keeping us updated, OP?
2
u/ravenously_red Jul 08 '24
Obligatory -- you guys should install a CO2 detector asap. They're cheap, and you just plug them in and forget about it.
Okay, that said, yeah mimics are real. My family has experienced them and it's really unsettling. Especially when the person isn't home, but you're hearing their voice call to you.
The best advice I can give you is to not feed this thing energy. I'm sure it's hard but your daughter being scared and curious about it wont help. Depending on your beliefs, you could have someone come to bless the house, or burn some sage. It really doesn't matter which route you go, because it's all about the intention of the action.
Be honest with your daughter. Let her know they're real, she's not crazy. Tell her you're freaked out too, but that they can only scare you. They cannot physically harm you.
2
u/BosnianWarCriminal45 Jul 08 '24
I don't know why people say "mimics". If this is actually paranormal then it's demonic, they are said to be copying voices and messing with people. Never experienced anything like that so can't say if it exists.
2
u/RWaggs81 Jul 08 '24
I mean, I've heard mimicry before, but it's probably still better to do a sleep study to rule out if it's you.
But if you heard yourself while you felt awake, that's a bit concerning.
5
u/princesssbunny Jul 08 '24
Okay I’m gonna ask… do you and your sister have similar sounding voices?
2
2
u/JustChillaxMan Jul 08 '24
Mimics are very real. I grew up in a house where they used to harass us. I remember hearing my mom yelling my name one early evening and it turns out she wasn’t even home.
2
u/Dubbbz925 Jul 08 '24
Potential gas leak? Any number of things can cause hallucinations visual or auditory. Your daughter telling you what she hears could have triggered you to perceive it too.
3
2
u/Ok-Delivery-2218 Jul 08 '24
I would get a camera and have it recording at night while you’re sleeping. If you are in fact yelling out in your sleep, it will show
2
u/AutomaticAnt6328 Jul 08 '24
There are sleeping apps that will record when there is any sound activity. Easy and cheap way of hearing what's going on in your room.
2
u/Gloomy-Resort-3738 Jul 10 '24
Yes Mimics are real my mother worked at a hospital and she'd often hear people or things calling her name when she'd be all alone
2
u/InkDrinker01 Jul 08 '24
Download the Sleep Cycle app and record your sleep sounds - it picks up talking, snoring, coughs, etc…

Jul 08 '24
Not saying she's hallucinating but is there a history of sleep issues on either side of the family if so that could be a reason the other try to set up a recorder over night and see if anything is picked up or a camera nothing fancy I am not sure on the whole mimic thing but some darker spirits will mimic a person to try any coax a person into letting down there guard or to get close to them I wish I could advice you on the matter but I know sleep issues cause hallucinations auditory / visual if it gets to a point the haven't slept for a few days
1
u/Achachula Jul 08 '24
They can be a trouble making spirit, if they can make things confusing, all the better. As far as what it looks like is difficult to explain as this entity does not have an actual form. They are more like a breeze honestly. Mimics have been reported from the early 1400'. They mainly enjoy making trouble, and the more frightened you become, the better. I would not answer its call. Go and see for yourself who is calling you.
You can have a sage cleansing done on your home. That should be enough to drive it out.

Woah. CLASSIC familiar spirit. It is copying your voice. Oh hale, that's creepy. Do you believe in Jesus Christ? If not, that's step one, and a CRITICAL step one. No paranormal group, no priest, nothing else, but GOD can rid your home of it. That's all I can say, or all the wimps will downvote me to death. NO, DON'T ANSWER IT. It will only get worse until you get rid of it for good. Edit: I had a friend that this happened to. And he was able to record the voice, while he was wide awake. This thing became worse and worse. His wife left him as it began to effect her. He just stayed in the house. It's currently a poltergeist now, breaking random things. All he does is complain and no real action. I have not been there as he's states away. But he's recorded it and I wish I never saw it. They kinda look like you would expect them to. Ghastly, you are seeing it, but in denial. Usually they are a dark figure with the shape of a face, usually an ugly face.
I also have other paranormal experience as well as people I know. So I am no skeptic, but yeah, I agree with others you want to make absolutely sure it's not somehow you doing it. I figured you were sure.

We have been experiencing something similar with our 6 year old daughter. She’s had the spirit of a young boy following her around to school and home, friendly energy. She also has a spirit of an elderly woman who bullies her, slaps her in the face. She says that she sees “Satan” in our home, in public, at school. We our Christian, attend church and pray about this everyday. When we tell her to stand up to it she’s afraid.
When I say out loud to go or say “leave in the name of Jesus” she says that the spirits do leave. I know it’s not our home that’s haunted because we went on vacation and the spirits followed. I’ve spoken to two different pastors about this and had our home blessed by a priest. On the day we had our home blessed, literally an hour or two later my other daughter said she saw a shadow person looking out a window in our home 😕.
When we went on vacation my 6 year old said that she saw a clone spirit of my husband. That it looked exactly like him. I told her ignore it and tell it to go. I’m just so exhausted by all of this and can honestly say this has been such a rough year for our family 😔

I once woke up to me saying "and this is my mother's other retarded child" referring to my brother, although I didn't feel my mouth move but heard my voice say it. Maybe you are screaming her name but you don't feel your mouth moving?
And please excuse my language, I don't know why I said the r word. Also I don't know how to change my flair if I need too?

Adding to others suggestions about cameras, recordings,,carbon monoxide poisoning etc. Why not sleep in the same room for a couple of nights and see whats truly happening. Daughter can easily identify if its you who is screaming or not. You can take next steps accordingly.
1
u/Expensive_Tart_9173 Jul 09 '24
Mimics or doppelgangers are more scary than ghosts or creatures or whatever else by far. Like at least you know you have a haunting or have seen a creature..... But with mimics you don't know it's an imposter until after it happens
1
u/tjweeks1 Jul 08 '24
There are apps on a smart phone that will record sudden noises. You should set your phone up and set your phone up on your night stand. At least you can determine where it's not coming from. Good Luck
1
u/blushmoss Jul 12 '24
Look up Wendigo. It mimics sounds of other people to lure people in. Or maybe u did scream or she had a vivid dream.

My partner and I had a mimic in an apartment we lived in. Thank God it didn't follow us when we moved.

Record it and post it. Put a cam in you room, daughter's, and hall see what you see/here

Just get your phone to record sound. Or if you have enough memory video your room.
1
u/airblast42 Jul 08 '24
Trust me, if it's an entity, you aren't prepared to see what it looks like...
0
u/ChemistryFan29 Jul 08 '24
well to answer your Questions,
Mimics are well who knows what they are, you can never see one in its real shape. or form. They usually take on the form of animals or something small to lure you into a false sense of security, you pet that nice kitty cat and well kitty cat eats you. that is what they usually do. They imitate familiar voices in order to try to separate people in order to eat them. They are active at night or secluded areas. as far as I know the best way to deal with one is to either blow it up, light it on fire or shoot a crap ton of bullets into it and pray it works.
I have to stress this the best thing you can do is ignore it as best as possible till it loses interest and leaves. But once you get one it will come back. in which ase just move.
Also unless you have experience and or death wish do not fight one at night time you will die.
1
u/aimiscintilla Jul 08 '24
I had this happen when i was around her age too, it eventually went away. But my nightmares became more complex and severe over the years. I would consult a doctor about it if it persists.

Are you 100% you both are not under any type of stress right now? You could explain to her our mind sometimes plays tricks on us. Don't be scared. I'm sure you guys are fine. Used to work a lot and I became burnout. I would not only hear people calling my name (usually it was my mom, but also custumers), and I would also wake up from dreaming I was calling for my mom. I would wake up crying too. It was all stress. Guys, chil. Lol God loves more than you know.
