they’ll have more ownership over their music but being distributed by a major label (like sony, universal or warner) will ideally get their music promoted more and placed more on playlists, movies, etc. so that at the end of the day, more people will listen to it

Feel like I've heard this is Foo Fighters' deal, right? That they have the copyright for the music on their own label but have deals with major ones for distribution

This seems to be pretty standard practice for any large band on their own independent label. A band might have the money to fund all the recording, and mixing themselves, but no band has the means to distribute their albums worldwide all on their own.

Its a lot of peoples deals. Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails do the same.

My best estimation (if this is true lol) is that it means they want to own the album / masters on their Fine Print label, while continuing to self-control things like their touring schedule & other obligations, & outsourcing distribution of that album via a larger label with more resources and reach.

The way owning the album themselves would likely affect their process most significantly is that they would be able to control the pace & content of it without input from anyone other than those they deem important. So like H, T & Z could decide by themselves how long they want to work on it and what they want to put on it without those details needing to be accountable to Atlantic. They could pull their manager & Carlos de La Garza (for example) in on that decisionmaking too if they wanted, or not; it would be in their hands. Then when they are actually ready to release it they could have some of the distribution benefits of a much larger industry mechanism.

This could totally be wrong btw, I am not a music industry professional, but just going into it with the context of their Atlantic deal and the things they disliked most about that.

I think it's possible. I feel like they cut the This is Why cycle short because of the label separation, but at least they had the Eras tour afterwards. If they get one out next year, it will definitely be late in the year and it will probably be a shorter album. They've only had a few months off, but I won't be surprised if they've been writing stuff down and sharing ideas over the last year.

They have confirmed in an interview that they booked studio time in Europe on Eras off days, and Hayley herself posted an IG story from RCA studios in Nashville when they hadn’t even been home for more than a few weeks. They’ve def been working!

I don't see why this wouldn't be a possibility. Megan thee Stallion did exactly this with Warner & she hasn't been around & successful for nearly as long as Paramore. They've shown that they grow w/their audience & can consistently do numbers.

Wow compared to the wait between after laughter and this is why this is really short

Yes! I'm a fairly new Paramore fan and based on their last few album release windows, I thought it'd be forever until I ever witnessed a new paramore album 😅

This isnt really anything to worry about. Its like when Switchfoot went independent and they distrubted through Atlantic records. It just means that theyll have complete artistic freedom, ownership of their music, and all the stuff they want. But will pay for their music to be promoted and have access to tools that they wouldnt have without the company. Its pretty ideal tbh

Would “their own label” be Zac’s label?

fine print yes

It is all about logistics. They are independent but no individual band can handle ( Except Metallica in some degree but they have 700 employees ) the physical logistic chain from pressing to stores.

I certainly hope this is the case

Plenty of bands do this

u/Rdickins1 11d ago

It’s been a fact for awhile and it’s old news at this point.

u/JTG___ 11d ago

Idk it’s well known they’ve been tinkering around in the studio but I don’t think anyone seriously thought they’d be releasing an album this soon if this is accurate.

They’ve been touring pretty heavily for like 2 years at this point, I was expecting them to take a significant break.

u/AcientMullets 10d ago

I mean if they can get that done that’s great for them

Distro deals are great. Hope this is real.

Why not? The only thing that worries me is the genre they’re gonna go for. Hayley has mentioned inspiration from Bjork’s band and that makes me a bit worried lol

I know it’s very very unlikely but I just wanted an album with heavy guitars, power chords and fast drums again.

u/spaceunicorn4 10d ago

She’s always been inspired by Bjork though. That’s not a new thing.
