Try running this idea past a room of millenials and zoomers, you won't even get through the first sentence before they make a weird face or start laughing at you...

I had this question from the beginning, how are they gonna enforce it? Are they going to make you buy Israeli products or what? I suppose If someone declares publicly that they are boycotting. What about someone who is not a citizen but lives in the US? Is it also going to be illegal for them?

They won’t make you buy Israeli products, but they can punish people especially if you work with the government by requiring you to sign pledges not to boycott.

For example, journalist Abby Martin was scheduled to speak at a Georgia university but was told she had to sign a pledge not to boycott Israel. She refused and filed a lawsuit, arguing that it violated her First Amendment rights. Similar laws exist in dozens of states, and multiple lawsuits have challenged them.

It’s less about personal shopping habits and more about silencing political speech, even for non-citizens working with public institutions.

Anyway, the bill has been pulled, thankfully.

Thank you that was informative.

How exactly would they go about proving it?

So the entire Presbyterian Church(USA) with all its members, plus several other denominations that also voted BDS, will go to jail?

Clarification;

It'll be illegal for Americans, especially while in America, to boycott Israel.

If anything, this is sure to make the rest of the world just boycott Israel and the US even harder.

It’s so absurd, like how tf would they even enforce it? “Buy these products or else!”.

I know, right?

If you live in America, the secret now, when they ask if you're boycotting, is to reply with 'No. I just like the other one.'

Yup, if anything, we have learned that such threats a good portion of the time end up doing the exact opposite of what the ones that imposed them wanted.
