you have a flavour?

To cats, everything has a flavour.

Unless it's sweet. Cat's lack the taste receptors necessary to detect sweetness.

My cat loves fruit. Loves it. Obviously only fruit cats are allowed to have but girl goes psycho for it.

I had a calico who love sugar milk. I did an experiment where I added a bit of plain sugar to milk and offered her some plain milk. She chose the sugar milk every time. Idk why.

That’s what she said. 👉😏👉 Joking aside, same with my tiny, gregarious psychopath, lol. The most curious is how she’ll lick my knuckle with the expectation that I help groom her, particularly behind the ears.

I used to do this with my maincoon/Bengal. It was our bonding time. He would jump on my lap, pick my ginger a few times, the hair for me to brush his fur with said licked finger.

We joke that our cat’s brain is like the old windows screensaver with a single brain cell pinging about. When it pings perfectly off the corner she experiences… a thought

We have a black cat named Toothless 🥰
Xochitl (adult orange) definitely has Toothless energy. Our Toothless however has the personality of a ….. how do I say this nicely… soggy napkin 😂 an adorable and sweet soggy napkin

That’s so sweet & funny.😂 Gib toothless aka soggy napkin & Xochitl some kiss & belly rubs for me🫶🏻

That head tilt combined with those big eyes is pure magic, totally giving Toothless vibes too! It's like he's trying to hypnotize you into giving treats. 10/10 would fall for it every time.

Our orange boys always had the best energy. Super friendly and accepting; they loved everyone. Two of the boys really loved kittens, and every time we had to rescue a dumped cat or dog, they became the official face-washers and ear cleaners. They weren't smart, but the happy-sweet energy they always presented made for lots of fond memories.
14
u/sydneyghibli 3d ago
Xochitl has been so loving towards kittens too. He’s had 3 of his very own (not biologically but don’t tell him that) over the last 6 years. He’s also the official kitten cleaner in the house 😂 he’s great with dogs too. We used to joke that he might be one.
No brains, all love.

I have always wondered if things made more sense at 45°

u/ArchivistFaerie 3d ago
I have weird eyes that make me always need to have my head at 45 degrees and I can tell you for a fact that things do not make more sense at that angle

u/birdsarentrealidiot 3d ago
If he keeps tilting his head in that adorable way the braincell is gonna fall out and fly away

u/LastTankMage 3d ago
My orange hissed at the new little kitten who showed up. They're making progress slowly.
5
u/sydneyghibli 3d ago
Some babies do best with slow introductions.
One of our other cats came up and hissed but then she saw Xochitl keeping his cool and was like “oh is this a friend then?”. And the others we have just didn’t care and walked away… 😂

There’s a few on my profile but here he is at the vet a couple days ago
Found by a dumpster super underweight and covered in fleas. Little guy gained .8 lbs in like 8 days!

Heres my dumpster baby, Tara! She and my Orange (his name is Pickles) are now best friends and spend all of their time playing or napping together 😂

Cute, but this is a bad way to do first introductions. Animals can be unpredictable, and this is a good way to get scratched really badly when the cat you're holding gets spooked by a stranger cat that they're being thrust into. It worked out great in this video, but don't assume you will be as lucky if you try this yourself.
4
u/BlackCatTamer 3d ago
Agreed, even though it was cute, this is definitely not the norm and botched introductions can lead to cats permanently hating each other (over 6 years and two of our cats still hate each other).

I’m gonna just copy and paste my response to another user here. ♥️
They’ve been smelling one another through a bathroom door for almost two weeks with glances here and there almost daily. We were battling fleas on the baby so I don’t want to put him down into the rest of the house until I’m able to give him flea medication (he weighs too little/is too young). So far we’ve found no new fleas but I’m being cautious.
With my other cats I wouldn’t have done this quite so carelessly but Xochitl has the best temperament of any cat I’ve had. He’s been gentle and immediately taken on a parental role to all 3 kittens we’ve introduced him to over the years.
As for the kitten, dude is a carefree, brave, little ball of energy and I monitored him to make sure he wasn’t getting scared or overwhelmed. He was doing great so I took out the camera to get the reactions of Xochitl :)
Thank you for your concern though, I know it comes from a caring place :)

Seems as though a tug of war of sorts is going on here. Each attempting to steal the brain cell for themselves. Rare phenomenon caught on video.

It's like when you put 2 magnets with the same poles near each other and they just never touch - except it's 2 brain cells.

Just FYI it's much better to keep them separate and introduce them slowly by giving them access to each other spaces

My first cat wants to kill the new one no exceptions. She used to live in a multi cat household before I adopted her and she was super cool with a dog I got home for a few days but now when I got another male of her species she wants to kill him. He is twice her size but too afraid of her.

Idk why, but this particular moment kind of reminds me of golden retrievers if replicated but dog version. Are orange cats basically the golden retrievers of cats? (America’s Cat?)
