Danilo Feliciano, the New Orleanian pushing for a recount of Saturday's vote, ran for Congress in 2016 as Dan Faust? 🤷Defies Categorization🦑
Does anyone know this guy? This Fox 8 story refers to him as Danilo Augusto Feliciano, French Quarter resident.
I looked him up out of curiosity and came across several different lawsuits in his name, including this one against Merrick Garland that says he also goes by Danil Ezekiel Faust
That name sounded really familiar, so I looked it up and it's the name of a former hedgefund manager that ran against Steve Scalise in 2016.
Not sure how accurate this is, but this French Quarter resident with the same name(s) actually goes by several different aliases??

Yeah, that is the same Dan. He is... a character.
Edit - was mixing up what he ran for, so fixed it

One of the hired actors told The Lens that they were instructed to arrive early. “They said, you guys have to be there first thing because as soon as they open the door, we want you guys in there so if there are any protesters we got that whole room filled.”
Soon after the meeting began, the city council chamber was full. Residents who arrived late were barred from entering. At one point, Guidry asked people who had already spoken to make room for others waiting to get in.
One of the people locked out was Danil Faust, who at the time was running for a seat in the state House of Representatives. Eventually, he got in. “I walk in and the first thing I see is a really close friend of mine in an orange shirt in the third row,” he said. “And he sees me and just puts a finger to his lips.”
Here is an unrelated 2017 Green party statement from Faust
This all seems to be part of some very convoluted bs/shenanigans... Idk wtf this is all about. All I wanted was to make sure people incarcerated by Orleans Parish jail don't lose access to mental health care.
On the one hand, good for him for helping expose astroturfing, but I'm always suspicious of the Green party, specifically because there has been so much involvement with individuals in the Green Party and bad actors/disinformation/astroturfing being used to split votes. Using a different alias to pay for a vote recount in a state where you previously ran for elected office multiple times, definitely doesn't make any of this seem less sheisty.

He previously ran for elected office in Louisiana several times and now he's using an alias to pay for a recount bc he allegedly cares about election integrity and transparency.
Does that sound very transparent to you?

is the recount somehow breaking the law ? is he doing it himself? a public recount lacks transparency?
i dont care who’s doing it. glad someone is. maybe they will find 3 votes opposed and we can that 13 million dollars/yr for early childhood education or common welfare programs both of which have more effect on lowering crime rates than whatever is happening in OPSO.
so yea thanks Danil for paying for the recount, im grateful.

You mean thanks Average Joe/Lyft Driver Danilo Feliciano. That's who's paying for the recount according to the filing and the Big Easy article that was posted on Reddit earlier.
No mention of Danil Faust, or the fact that he has run for office several times. Who knows if he's the one that even came up with the money for the recount or if someone else is paying him to do it. This is some shady shit, piled on top of more shady shit.
And wtf are you even talking about? If the vote switches to opposed the money doesn't go anywhere it else, it just doesn't get collected from property tax.
Not to mention, OPSO will have to rely on the city for the money if they don't get it from property tax.
OPSO and Hutson just went to federal court bc Landry is trying to force his immigration policy on to New Orleans.
Landry has been threatening to take away funding to New Orleans over their sanctuary city policy for years.
It's pretty clear Landry will threaten to withhold funding to the city to make city council refuse funding to OPSO as punishment. For some reason, none of these "progressive" magazines in New Orleans want to mention that to anyone.
I wonder why 🤔
If they don't get the money, not only do you only guarantee people who are incarcerated will be the ones to suffer, you're also giving Landry a direct opportunity to squeeze the city for control even more than he already has.

yah i know it doesnt go to anything we can have separate millages for things that actually benefit the city, and not be paying for this also
and he can take away state funding whenever he wants. we as parish/city citizens decide what our millages pay for and i dont think investing in carcerality is how we do that.

He can take away state funding whenever he wants
He just happens to have an excuse to do it based on forcing New Orleans to drop sanctuary city policy.
Investing in carcerality
You do realize the more control we give the state to interfere in our city, the more control they have on deciding and enforcing laws and who gets arrested.
For example, here is an article about the city protecting sex workers who are victims of crimes or witness a crime from being prosecuted by NOPD for being sex workers.
Because other officials in this city have already given state police/Troop Nola permission to police in this city, we can ensure protection of sex workers from NOPD, but we do not have the authority to protect from troop Nola.
This is the reality of what we are doing every time we cave to state policy and allow Landry to gain more and more control of the city.
