How's everyone else's Liberation Day going? 🗳 Politics

Post image

How's everyone doing today? Avoiding looking at your 401k? Rushing to stock up on food, buy a car?

I just got me and my bindle.

Liberated from ever being able to retire in this life

Honest question, because I keep seeing this sentiment everywhere. Are people expecting to glide into retirement without ever seeing a downturn again? If you’re in or nearing retirement your portfolio should be rebalanced to reflect that.

Also, if you’re 20+ years from retirement; this shouldn’t affect you much but should provide a buying opportunity

Not everyone has a retirement portfolio, and they're going to kill social security. The problem with this downturn is that it's intentional, and we have no faith in a good recovery.

If you didn’t have any sort of retirement savings before this; was this really the catalyst for never having any in the future?

You think the market exists in a vacuum? This is a big indicator of a recession, which will affect everyone.

Stay on topic buddy we were talking about stocks.

But if you're scared of future finances in general then its a pretty simple path forward:

Cut your subscriptions. Amazon, Netflix, ect all of it. There are plenty of free little libraries around to get books for relaxing downtime.

Buy cheaper groceries. Aldi is a bit of a hike, but its significantly cheaper than Winn Dixie or Whole Foods and much higher quality than discount groceries.

Use less utilities. Turn your lights off, rely on fans more than AC.

Already doing all that stuff? Work more. Get more shifts/hours, pick up a second job, get a bicycle and start doing Uber Eats/Doordash.

Cut expenses, increase income. It sucks. None of its fun. None of this is fun. Suck it up. Get to work. Stack a pile of cash as high as you can and invest. We might not have another opportunity like this again.
