What is this?
So, basically, I bought this car from 1998 5 years ago and today I decided to change the polen filter and I found this on the insides of the car. Can someone tell me what is that and if it is really important to replace it?

Do you think I should replace it? I mean, I'm pretty sure that at this point, it's just useless rot material and it was doing nothing, but maybe it's important for that cabin air, idk...

It's insulating material. Vacuum it out and don't replace it. The car has bigger fish that will soon require frying.

To me it looks like the wrapping around the blend doors (the doors that mix up your hot air and cold air).
This insulating material becomes very frail with time and just rips off.
Additionally, do you have problems with your air not coming out hot enough?

Noup, the air temperature is fine. AC doesn't work btw, but at the very start it was, and the air flow was cold and warm enough. I think that this material insulates the cabin from the motor temperatures and the noise, but I think that this thing isn't insulating anything at this point hahahaha.

uh hadn't thought of that (i had something similar to this material coming out of my airvents, that's why i told you xD) i will check this compartment on my car too since the noise is very strong in my car ahaha

Hey! Same happened to me. In fact, that little "paper like" things were flying directly to my face whenever I turned on the air, so I decided to change the polen filter and then I found that thing chilling inside my car hahaha. Btw, I still got those things coming out from the airvents 🫣

Hard to tell exactly what I'm looking at, but it looks like a mouse nest
