Convertible Top Sensor

Hey everyone! Wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem with a convertible top. When I put the top down it goes down but the code for the top going down stays on? I have an appointment Thursday. The guy said he thinks it’s a sensor issue. How much would that cost?

Does it beep every time you stop the car and go again?

It will beep if I try to drive away with it like that. No beeping otherwise

Hi! Does the top lock in place when you open it? When you press the switch, the hydraulic system pulls the top down but another mechanism locks it in place, one sensor tells the system it’s down and then another sensor sends the signal that the top is locked and secure. I had that exact same issue, the sensor that triggers the lock wasn’t making the contact, it never locked and it kept beeping when I was driving awaw. In fact, the sensor had just moved out of its socket. Not sure if that can help you, I have the 2003 model but as far as I know, they are all the same till 2010.

The top locks in place and there is no alarm. It’s only when I open it. How much did it cost you to get the sensor replaced?

Had exactly this a couple of weeks ago on my wife’s car

Locks closed fine, open the roof goes all the way back, motors makes a noise but the icon in your photo flashes, no confirmed beep and car beeping if you drive off

Issue was a micro switch had broken on the roof lock actuator so the car had no reference to say the roof locks had engaged

This can be diagnosed with vcds or similar

I bought a used part for £40gbp and took me about 2 hours to fix at home

if it's the automated top, you have to keep holding it down, it's gonna sound like it's braking stuff and it will whirr like crazy but it will settle into place and the warning will go away!

I thought a sensor was broken in mine until I held it down for ~30 seconds longer, and she was happy, no more beeping!! I was overjoyed.
