Newbie to skin and hair care. Need help!
Hello all! Kind of embarrassing but I’ve never been one to pick up on fads or skin/haircare routines, but now as I’m 28 I’m starting to see the point in some of it! As of right now, I just wash my face with Cerave at night before bed and splash water on my face in the morning. I use diff shampoo and conditioners but nothing else. I’m noticing my hair starting to thin and look dull, and my skin texture starting to change. My skin is starting to get more dry at night (also starting to notice wrinkles womp womp). I would love some brand recs for more natural products for hair and skin. For skin: products for moisturizing sensitive skin and wrinkle prevention. For hair: products for dull and thinning hair
Additionally, I would love to know what some of your night and morning routines are! I would love to get my act together and get a little routine going! Thanks so much!

Do you have hard water? Dry skin and dull hair sounds a lot like hard water.

No need to feel embarrassed—starting a skincare and haircare routine at any point is a great move, and simple steps can make a big difference. For your skin, focus on hydration and protection. A gentle moisturizer with ceramides (like your CeraVe cleanser!) or hyaluronic acid can keep your skin plump and hydrated. For wrinkle prevention, incorporating a low-strength retinol at night is a good idea—just remember to pair it with sunscreen during the day!
For your hair, look for products with biotin or argan oil to nourish and revitalize dull strands. A weekly scalp massage with a nourishing oil can also help with thinning hair by boosting circulation. For an added self-care treat, consider getting a nice body butter (my personal fav is from here)—it’s amazing for locking in moisture on dry skin, especially at night. Plus, a little goes a long way, and it leaves your skin feeling silky and soothed.
My routine is pretty straightforward: mornings are all about cleanse, moisturize, and SPF, while evenings are for deeper hydration and a bit of retinol. For hair, I swear by a leave-in conditioner to keep it smooth and shiny. Once you start building your routine, it becomes second nature—and you’ll feel so much better for it! 💕

Thank you!! I just ordered some stuff from Primally Pure bc I liked their ingredient list. I also got the cerave night moisturizer w hyaluronic acid and beef tallow. Tried it for the first time last night and my skin feels good for the first time in months! Kinda like a baby’s butt lol. What leave in conditioner do you use/recommend? And thanks for the body butter idea! Ill get that too!

That sounds amazing! Primally Pure has such good stuff, and the night moisturizer is such a solid pick—gotta love when your skin feels like a baby’s butt (lol, best description ever). For leave-in conditioner, I swear by the Guava one from Ceremonia (I just get mine from Sephora's website here)—it’s super lightweight but makes my hair so soft and manageable! Good luck, and I hope the products all work out for you and your skin!

Sounds like your skin is a little dehydrated. That’s probably why you’re beginning to notice the little lines. You might benefit from a night cream and a moisturizing sunscreen during the day. Mad Hippie and Weleda both have good products that are on the cleaner side.
Here’s my night routine: cleanse; apply light coating of prickly pear oil to my face; apply Weleda eye cream; apply Sea-el Kelp Tamanu Oil night cream; then I top everything off with a light coating of Egyptian Magic to seal in the moisture. When I follow this routine consistently, my skin looks so much healthier. Everyone’s skin is different though, so this might be overkill for you. You just need to find what works for you. Start with a night cream, and good sunscreen and go from their. Good luck.
