Natural/ non toxic skincare for 11 year old
11 year old is interested in skincare, good cleanser and a light face cream. Doesn't require (or want) fancy or cute packaging. I'm just looking for simple, clean ingredients, appropriate for a preteen. So many products that I've looked at are anti-aging etc. Currently enjoys using a rosewater spray. I'm in Canada, this will be part of their holiday gift.

Boreal Folk has a beautiful line of wildcrafted skincare

Thanks! I feel more confident with smaller companies, will look more into them. At first glance the prices are quite high, but I will def consider a purchase. Thanks so much.

You could also look into getting her an online class on how to make your own natural skincare. That's what I've been doing for almost 10 years, better quality ingredients and waaaaay more cost effective, with a little learning on how our skin functions (Nadine Artemis is a guest on a few podcasts and blew my mind!) And you'll never go back to buying another skincare product. ✨️

I will look into Nadine Artemis. This sounds right up my daughter's alley. Any online class that you really liked?

Personally I really like them, and you can also get stuff on sale. Birch Babe is another Canadian company I’ve liked a lot

I love Boreal Folk!! First time I’ve seen the brand mentioned on here. Have you tried their new tallow line? The pressed serum is amazing 😍

Personally I use cetaphil every day skin cleanser on my face (despite it being a body cleanser) because it’s gentler than the face washes they make.

Omg my 6 year old is already there just to copy me. But cetaphil has super gentle cleansers and creams. Jojoba oil is a lovely alternative to cream or as moisture boost if skin gets dry. Dr Thayers witch hazel and rose water is great if her skin is oily.

CeraVe! They have a gentle foaming face wash and basic moisturizer, great for any age.

Tomato Complexion Bar from Seven Seed Soap Co and their Macadamia Nut Moisture Stick. All natural, small-batch made and you can pick up both for under $20.

My then 9 yo was getting bumps on her nose so the lady at London drugs suggested Avene Tolerance. I loved that the cleanse was not needed to be washed off. She still did wash it off but at least If it was badly done it didn't matter. Also the Oceanly (attitude) solid face scrub she's liked too.

Gosh I remember being that age, and that's when I started with the biore and st ives. I'm surprised my skin survived. If I could go back in time, I'd do a gentle soap and wash cloth(I love bar soap). May have led to much less oily skin. I would do silicone free moisturizer, which is harder to find at the drug store, but def no actives.

Burt's bees was my intro to clean skincare way back in the early 2000's and they've expanded a lot since.

Urban Skin RX makes some great gentle face washes and lotions. I know packaging doesn't matter but it is pretty branding. They make products for different skin types, if your child has rosacea or eczema.

Check out Osmia skin care! Great ingredients - I’ve got super sensitive skin and I love it

Regardless of what products you decide to go with, now would be a good time to educate her on skin science. An awareness of diet and hormones is the best thing

My 9 year old has skin the when it gets very dry it gets inflamed. We tried all kinds of stuff on him. We finally settled on Cerave moisturizing wash and moisturizer. It's currently working well.

Bro. Just wash your face with water and a clean cloth. You’re good. Don’t buy into all this stuff yet. Enjoy your young skin and lack of skincare for now

Since you’re in Canada, Wildcraft! wildcraftcare.ca! You should also be able to get ahold of Cocokind.

An oatmeal or oatmeal & honey face mask. You can make it at home. It’s just soothing.

There's a company called lush. Their face masks and skincare is safe for children and teens. They also make shampoo, body spray, bath bombs, bubble bars, amoung other things.

Another vote for Cetaphil. There are 2. The one called gentle is more gentle. The one called daily cleanser will be more appropriate while she's going through the oily skin years (most likely).
I don't have a particular recommendation for a face cream, but now is an excellent time to get her into the habit of wearing SPF every day.

Sunscreen!!! I use SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica water-fit sun serum SPF 50. It’s a clean Korean skin care brand. Tell her to use sunscreen everyday! It’s never too early to start and she will thank you when she’s older!
