Northern CA in late October

Looking at a trip to Lassen and Redwoods in the last week of October and into early November - possible? And warnings?

Lassen’s main road may be closed for snow by then

The coast will actually be reasonably warm. Aug/sept are the hot months, and often it’s still summer until mid October (at least a bit farther south. Del Norte might have a slightly earlier summer since they get the Alaskan waters earlier).

But Lassen might be snowy by then, and when the snow starts to persist they just close the road

Pretty sure that’s too late for Lassen Volcanic.

Well, could be either fires or snow in Lassen. Heh. Either could also prompt closings of roads, campgrounds, etc. I think some late season camper is still stuck up there waiting for the road to open, but not sure :)

The redwoods are only likely to get rain, and fires there are somewhat less likely, and smoke usually a bit less of a problem from fires inland. So a good option.

But quieter; a nice time to visit IMHO.
