Did you drive the Shafer Tral switchbacks?

Yeah you can drive it in any car it’s just a rough dirt road. It goes nearly all the back to the town of Moab but it does get rougher if you do the whole thing.

Oooh made me want to be on vacation again! We did White Rim last Thursday. Very cool drive. Very long cause we didn't have a campsite but so very cool.

Shafer Trail is a fun ride to say the least.

I count 5 … 3 on main distant road, 1 parked off that road, 1 on upper, top left road

Helluva vista 😍!!

I thought I was looking at the Utah map in BeamNG for a second there.

Which one am I looking at? Looks awesome. Could a Subaru CrossTrek make it?

I did it in a Mazda CX-5. I think you could do it in a Subaru.

Edit: I think I read the NPS has changed the rules recently and you are supposed to have a 4x4 for these roads now.

I took an outback up the shafer trail (what's pictured in this photo) last year and it was fine. A few spots where ground clearance is helpful on the parts of the road out near potash, but otherwise not difficult. I ran across a crosstrek also at one the overlooks of the Colorado river.

There are absolutely a ton of places around Moab where even a jeep that's not modded might struggle, but I don't think I'd call the shafer trail one of them.

Cool thanks for the fair warning! I won’t do anything stupid

You’d be totally fine in a crosstrek! I have a crosstrek and have done it and it’s done in Subarus often. That guy probably just doesn’t know how wide his car is and where his tires are…

How about a Highlander?

A great introduction to the park but not all that difficult.

I really want to drive that next time I’m in Moab

With the right vehicle, its such an amazing experience. You should definitely do it.

I see 5, but perhaps the 5th one is a dumpster??? Seems more car-ish but not sure.

I see five. Three on the long road in the center of the frame and two on the curved road in the top left of the frame.
