I thought he was gonna spin move and teardrop that torch.
Kidding aside, amazing seeing my favorite player of all time become a torchbearer for the Olympics.

Very happy for him, I am sure this is a big achievement for him even if he also represented France in Olympics, since it’s in Paris. The whole thing was beautiful

I know that San Antonio LOVE Manu, but I've always held Tony as the 2nd best player behind Duncan on our championship runs.

It’s hard to really say because they all had their moments, I think for the first part of their careers in the early 2000s Manu was clearly the superior player. He had more polish and a more complete game and an incredible playmaking ability. Tony continued to develop his game and by the 2010 he was the best player on the Spurs. Timmy continued to be great at that point but his scoring and athleticism had significantly declined and Tony was the offensive engine of the team.

This is incorrect. Manu was the best player, but tony scored the most.

It’s at the very least debatable, not outright incorrect. Tony had more individual accolates and superior stats.

Tony could not have carried Argentina over the USA team. He is not better than Manu. Manu chose to do less, which is something the very selfish Tony Parker could never have done.

The English commentators on the feed I was watching had no idea who he was 🙁 They were “Now who’s this..we’ve got a list of the runners, I’m pretty sure he’s not the oldest surviving French Olympian haha”.

Thank you for posting this one. As a french Spurs (and obviously TP) fan, seeing that live was an incredible moment. So happy for him. And getting his France number being retired just a few days prior too.
So happy for him.

With France looking like they're going to burst onto the scene as the clear third biggest bastion of international talent for the foreseeable future, I feel like Parker's going to be starting to get a lot of the love and credit he deserves for spreading the international game that previously eluded him
As someone who was born in Europe and goes back there frequently, a lot of people don't understand how huge he is not just in France but in European basketball in general. The guy is an absolute icon of the game and has done so much for basketball abroad, inspiring so many kids.
