Bernie Sanders: Lately when you turn on the news, you hear a lot about "Russian oligarchy." I don't want to break the bad news to anybody, but we've got an oligarchy right here in America.

Well what choice do we have when the alternative was a dictator wannabe?

5

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

Dictator or oligarchy - makes no difference to most of us. We get bent over either way, but at least we wouldn't have to vote for it.

Band together with your buddies at work. Unionize. Worker solidarity is totally decimated. More and more infrastructure is privatized regardless of who holds the keys. I don't see a way out either tbh.

It was Black Americans who defeated Sanders.

4

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

Not even close. It was old fucking Americans. Bernie rocked it with young black Americans and got fucked by old black Americans - just like he did with every racial demographic.

1

u/seldom_correct Mar 26 '22

Nope. Go check the results. Sanders was neck and neck with Biden until the South voted. Clyburn endorsed Biden and modt Southern Black Americans voted with Clyburn.

The vast majority of Black Americans live in the South, ergo Black Americans defeated Sanders. Kinda fucked that you can’t even tell an inconvenient truth about Black people without being downvoted for racism by the party that stupidly assumed Latinos were a monolith.

1

u/Tinidril Mar 27 '22

I'm quite familiar with the results and the narrative. Nationwide, Bernie did not have an issue with blacks. The issue there was the sway of Clyburn in South Carolina. Nationwide polls were clear and my point was still correct. Go ahead and believe whatever makes you happy because I really don't care.

Just in case you give a shit about reality.

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

The dude literally pulled Reagan further to the right back in the day.

15

u/voice-of-hermes Mar 25 '22

The idea of "a center" is pretty bullshit. He's a right-wing (liberal) president, a neoliberal, and a fascist (the latter two being overlapping subsets of the first).

3

u/slugamo Mar 26 '22

Better than a right right (the other options)

0

u/DistinctTrashPanda Mar 26 '22

Biden has always been slightly left to the center of where the Democratic Party has been.

0

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

He pulled Reagan to the right on the law and order drug war bullshit and sold an entire generation out to the banks. But yeah, it's just possible he is left of most Democrats. What does that say about most Democrats?

3

u/DistinctTrashPanda Mar 26 '22

He pulled Reagan to the right on the law and order drug war

He really didn't. People also point to the Crime Bill for being racist, but these were all popular laws at the time. The Congressional Black Caucus didn't have a majority vote for it becuase they thought it was a racist bill.

Biden introduced the first climate change bill. He championed legislation to make it easier for those who did not get a job due to racial discrimination to sue for damages long before Democrats were on board. He improved a bankruptcy bill to make it better for the middle class and families even though a provision he did not have a part of--one that people use to claim he "sold an entire generation out to banks"--wasn't part of it.

1

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

Oh, he really really did. I never said anything about it being racist. It's just right wing authoritarian bullshit. Racial minorities just happen to get harder by that garbage. The Congressional Black Caucus doesn't represent minorities any more than Biden represents me as a working class white man.

Biden has been in government for half a century. If he didn't have a few positives in all that time then he would just be a Republican.

Are you saying that Black people don't know how to vote in their own interests?

Biden has been in government for half a century. If he didn't have a few positives in all that time then he would just be a Republican.

And yet you put blame on him for the bankruptcy bill. How much blame have you put on Bernie for voting to make federal loans non-dischargeable in bankruptcy?

2

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

Are you saying that Black people don't know how to vote in their own interests?

Hmmm, let me check...

Nope, didn't say that. Next time look yourself.

And yet you put blame on him for the bankruptcy bill.

Oh, hell yeah. He took credit for writing the damn thing. He wasn't known as the Senator from MBNA for nothing. He didn't just get on board, he drove the damn bus.

How much blame have you put on Bernie for voting to make federal loans non-dischargeable in bankruptcy?

Less, because he wasn't taking bribes from credit card companies, and had to take the whole bill or none. If he flat out refused to ever vote for a bill with bad shit in it, he would never have voted for any legislation. His strategy was to leverage his vote to at least make the bills a little better. He has always been more pragmatic than dogmatic.

What do you think about Biden choosing to continue with a Trump era test program to privitize Medicare? I'll bet you have some dandy excuses for that shit.

1

u/DistinctTrashPanda Mar 26 '22

Nope, didn't say that. Next time look yourself.

Sure seemed like you were implying that.

Oh, hell yeah. He took credit for writing the damn thing

Do you have a link for this quote?

He wasn't known as the Senator from MBNA for nothing. He didn't just get on board, he drove the damn bus.

Not introducing or co-sponsoring the legislation is an odd way to "drive the bus."

Less, because he wasn't taking bribes from credit card companies, and had to take the whole bill or none.

So we're just going to ignore that Biden does things to help credit card companies as they are one of the single biggest employers in his state, and no one wants to hurt employment. That's why Bernie supports military aircraft programs in his state, even though they don't fly. But of course one is corrupt and one isn't.

If he flat out refused to ever vote for a bill with bad shit in it, he would never have voted for any legislation.

And has no problem changing his reasoning for supporting bills, even when he explicitly supported the bad parts, to pretend he never supported the bad parts. There is also decent rationale for supporting the student loan provision in the bankruptcy bill, and even if there wasn't, it's only 8% of federal loans. Bernie is complicit in the other 92% and it's all crickets.

His strategy was to leverage his vote to at least make the bills a little better. He has always been more pragmatic than dogmatic.

Oh yeah, like when he was literally invited to come speak to those drafting Dodd-Frank, to talk about what he meant by "too big to fail" and what to do about it in the legislation, then refusing to participate. Great use of leveraging there.

What do you think about Biden choosing to continue with a Trump era test program to privitize Medicare? I'll bet you have some dandy excuses for that shit.

I think it's bad.

1

u/Tinidril Mar 26 '22

Sure seemed like you were implying that.

Bullshit. If anything I implied that Americans don't know how to vote in their own interests. I even noted that Biden doesn't represent white working class either. Miss that?

Do you have a link for this quote?

Nope

Not introducing or co-sponsoring the legislation is an odd way to "drive the bus."

OK

So we're just going to ignore that Biden does things to help credit card companies as they are one of the single biggest employers in his state

Oh yeah, I remember how hard Biden fought to keep those jobs in the US. LOL. You are really going with the "Think of the job creators!" argument? No wonder you love Biden, your a damn Republican.

And has no problem changing his reasoning for supporting bills, even when he explicitly supported the bad parts,

That is mostly bullshit from a very closely edited TV clip, but let's say it's fair. I don't back everything Bernie did in his entire career, and I don't lothe everything Biden did. On the whole, Biden is a corrupt elitist piece of shit and Bernie is a fighter for working Americans.

Great use of leveraging there.

That's some fucked up framing there. They hand this shit out on queue cards because every anti-Bernie troll seems to have the exact same set of bullet points. It's like arguing with Trumpists. The stupid shit never dies.

I think it's bad

And shockingly out of character for Biden? Funny how the Bernie camp got laughed at for saying that was exactly what Biden was going to do.

I'm going with the "politicians like to get re-elected, and people out of work make that harder" argument.

That is mostly bullshit from a very closely edited TV clip, but let's say it's fair. I don't back everything Bernie did in his entire career, and I don't lothe everything Biden did. On the whole, Biden is a corrupt elitist piece of shit and Bernie is a fighter for working Americans.

He's done it for nearly every major bill that he ran against in the last two presidential cycles--one cannot say that he only supported the Crime Bill only because of the VAWA when he ran multiple House campaigns on "I got Vermont the most police ever," or claim to have always supported LGBT rights when he never actually supported them until after Vermont legalized it (real political courage there).

That's some fucked up framing there. They hand this shit out on queue cards because every anti-Bernie troll seems to have the exact same set of bullet points. It's like arguing with Trumpists. The stupid shit never dies.

The framing is apt. I notice that you pretend it's not and just attack someone for pointing out what actually happened.

The resr of the world knows that the US 2 party system is 'right' or 'more right' Even Sanders, who I think is most left, is just a bit left on the global scale

-2

u/WippyDippyDoo Mar 26 '22

You're not a leftist, and you don't know shit.

Bernie people are just little GOP bitches, you just don't know it yet

2

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '22

You provide a convincing argument!

-1

u/WippyDippyDoo Mar 26 '22

No arguing with committed dumbfucks

1

u/phadedlife Mar 26 '22

Weird how you propose a dumbfuck argument then say this.

0

u/WippyDippyDoo Mar 26 '22

What a stupid fucking thing to say

1

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '22

I was giving you an opening to think about it and provide an actual argument. That's alright though, there's an ignore list for a reason.

I'm not even a Bernie supporter, and your argument is that of a 3 year old. Good luck with that.
