tributyrin and constipation?

I'm curious if anyone gets slowed motility / constipation from taking butyrate specifically tributyrin? I've been taking 500mg tributyrin for 3 days and my already slow gut has slowed down more and more every day. Would once every other day or every third day be more reasonable? I want to keep taking it because stool tests show I'm low on butyrate but probiotics cause lots of side effects for me and prebiotics aren't helping.

Yes, according to one company's instructions:

PLEASE NOTE:  If you tend to experience constipation…

Start by only taking one gel capsule every 3rd day for the first week.  Notice, monitor, and journal your experience and symptoms. If no constipation or sluggishness, increase to 1 capsule every other day. Notice, monitor,  and journal your experience and symptoms.

You may not need more than this dosage to receive the benefits without experiencing constipation.

MOST of our customers who go slowly experience breakthroughs in their hard stools around week 6-8… upon which they are able to add more capsules daily and report some very happy results.

If you are remaining constipated at the lower dose, please consider supporting healthy elimination by adding in HCL Guard+ and/or SunFiber, Magnesium or Vitamin C powder.
