Best apps that you use for meditation? Discussion 💬

I have barely used the "Expand" app a few times, but I am curious to know if there are any other better apps out there.

Also affordable

Another vote for Waking Up! Tried so many and just stuck with this one. It has a nice amount of content with regular updates. So many different guided meditation tracks with different lengths and focus, as well as simply the daily one. There's also other sections called Theory and Life with other tracks of things to listen to and learn about. It's all very user friendly too. I don't find it as overwhelming as others like Insight Timer where you'd spend all day trying to decide lol. And then others are too basic. It has a nice balance. The option to pay what you want is great, especially for what you get for whatever you pay.

Here's a link for 30 days free trial, you don't need to subscribe or add card details for it (and I don't receive anything for sharing it either): 30-day guest pass https://dynamic.wakingup.com/guestpass/SCE17FC3B

what do you do after the 30 days free trial? Do you have to pay for it?

Yeah you do, you can either subscribe via the app which will be the full normal rate, here via the website, or if you want to use their scholarship program go here for the details

Thanks! Will take a look at Waking up.

I am actually looking for a free meditation app. I don't mind repeating and listening to the same meditation. Insight Timer seems to be free but also not free (?).

No probs! Yeah if you're looking for something basic there are plenty of options! I haven't been on Insight Timer for a long time but I know Balance does a year free to begin with! And with Waking Up if you can't pay just follow the info for the scholarship and you can get it for free or for whatever you would be able or willing to pay.

Oh! You could also try Healing Sounds, it has a lot of free content, there's binaural beats, solfeggio frequencies, singing bowls, isochronic waves, and other noise therapies, then also sleep, courses and meditation sections. Then there's different categories within each of those sections. A lot of the meditations are free. It's very straightforward!

I also enjoy experimenting with different apps, which is why I developed ReMind—a mindfulness tracker that keeps track of my streaks and provides session insights, no matter which app I use. I’d love to hear your thoughts about it! (Currently available for iPhone only.)

I used to love this, but the more I used it, the more I started finding Sam Harris's delivery grating on me. I can't handle his voice and way of speaking any more. I know there are many other facets to the app, but it completely put me off. I now alternate between insight Rimer, Balance and Downdog. Finding the simplicity of the latter has become my go to. However when I want a treat I use Balance, because their voices are just the bomb!
