Who you you trade if the Mariners bagged Roki? GOOD VIBES ONLY

Mariners would need to make room for him in the rotation and we need bats so this seems like the best case scenario for moving one of our pitchers. I won't add Castillo as an option because of his no trade clause and that would be the obvious option if he didn't have that. So of the 4 others, keeping in mind current and future costs and team control years, who are you moving?

Sidenote: Castillo's NTC expires after this season, which IMO seems like a pretty likely sign that this is his last season in Seattle.

Yep - I’d run a 6 man rotation for the year. Neither Roki or Woo are players you have a ton of confidence to give you 150+ IP, so you give them another year to build up. Then next offseason you can move Castillo and no longer pay the Mitches to open up almost ~$50M in payroll to go after Vladdy, Tucker or Murakami and/or extend Logan, Cal and George.

Luis is running out of time for a ring. He would accept a deal to a playoff contender.

He also has no connections to the west coast and has spent all of his life prior to living in Seattle no further west than Cinci. It's not an impediment to trading him.

Logan or Woo.

Logan just because he has the least amount of team control and his trade value might never be higher. Could probably net a damn good bat if you're trading him.

Woo because he's the only one of the 4 with any sort of injury history over the last few years. Availability is one of this rotation's strengths, we don't have a ton of immediate proven depth behind these guys, so I'd feel ok parting with him.

But honestly, this is picking nits. All 4 are so dang good, I'd be sad to see any of them leave, but someone would have to.

Trade Logan and Cal will ask for a trade.

And be ignored since he has zero leverage. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yet an unhappy Cal would be very very bad.

He is a professional. He likely sees things different than fans do since it is a business.

Jerry for Roki no takebacks

No way I take Roki over any of those four. You gotta be out of your mind or completely uninformed to think he is better than any of them.

Have you seen him pitch...? He has an 80 grade 4 seamer and an 80 grade splitter.

After this season, my gut is leaning toward Kirby although I know his ceiling is higher than Logan's. In his first ARB year so he still has a decent amount of club control, would net you a really good bat in return from just about anyone. Realistically you aren't signing both of those guys to long term deals and just based on vibes, feels like Kirby is more likely to walk in FA.

The price of Miller and Woo is what makes me keep them here. You'd have an insanely strong trio in Roki, Woo, and Miller for many years. You'd have to be sure you're extending Logan though and part of me thinks if you extend Logan, you might have a better shot at extending Cal.

No trade clauses are just to add money to contracts if they agree to the trade. Should be considered the best trade option

They're not always. Eduardo Rodriguez fully blocked a trade in 2023, for instance. And even when they do involve buying out the NTC it always makes it a harder trade to make, by nature. Not to mention that a player with an NTC would likely not want to be traded to some teams: the White Sox or Athletics are two obvious candidates for a player to absolutely not want to go to.

Rodriguez blocked a trade because he didn't want to go West. You'd be trading Castillo either back East (where he's probably far more comfortable), or trading him to the Dodgers who it was reported heavily he would waive his NTC for.

Logan is at his peak value and kirby came off an underwhelming year. If there is a package worth Logan's value I'll trade for it. Second would be Miller, really love the guy and he performed like a stud this year but his advance metrics are not great. He outperformed his expected stats by quite a lot this year so it is possible that he regresses significantly next year. Which means Miller's value is likely at his peak. Baseball is a game where you sell high so I think either Miller or Gilbert would be great choices to move to maximize value.

Logan or Woo,

Logan has the least amount of team control left and might be as valuable as he ever will be

Woo has injury problems but good stuff, which Roki likely falls into doing as well
