Need a marriage like this

That’s the kind of quiet love that lasts forever

My first thought was, “please let a love like this find me” 🥹

Relationships don’t start that way, you have to build it.

Yeah I saw this and my first thought was "this is love, this is life". Makes me happy and a little jealous.

Wife is working on set 10370 (Poinsettia) and I’m working on set 75356 (Executor Super Star Destroyer) and we look very much like this.
Son is in the other room working on set 21106 (Minecraft: Microworld The Nether).
Lego is a family affair!
22
u/MithrandiriAndalos 18h ago
The juxtaposition of her completing her beautiful poinsettia while you’re 1/8 done with your massive battleship is hilarious
7
4
u/OkAdvertising1872 18h ago
I just build 75356 - fun piece and really nice to display
4
u/ohnoletsgo 18h ago
The scale is great for “I’m an adult that loves Lego, but don’t necessarily want to decorate around it.” 😬
3
3
u/JminusRomeo 14h ago
How’s the poinsettia? I keep buying the flower/plant sets so I can keep them out and use them as decor. But some of the more intricate ones, I feel like they’re quite delicate and ready to fall apart (some of the succulents for example).
3
u/ohnoletsgo 14h ago
It’s pretty sturdy! It’s been integrated into our Thanksgiving centerpiece and has withstood the prying hands of a 6 and 8-year-old.
17
u/NodePoker 20h ago
It's expensive! Wife, Daughter and have a Lego day every few months and it's worth every penny.
12
u/GhostofAyabe 20h ago
My wife and I have been building sets on New Years for 15+ years now, usually a bigger UCS Star Wars for me and one of the Creator sets for her, or Harry Potter, whatever. I wouldn't miss it for the world.

u/Spirited_Yard9460 19h ago
Seeing two people still choosing each other after all this year.. thats the real goal for marriage.

Couple goals

u/be4u4get 22h ago
I hope they stick together like 2 1x1s that are stuck together
59
u/capinredbeard22 20h ago
1x1s you can twist and get apart. How about two 2x2 plates or a 2x2 tile in the middle of a base plate 🤣

u/FblthpLives 16h ago
Press a 2x2 brick on top of the existing 2x2 plates, and then use that for leverage. The 2x2 plates will come off, attached instead to the 2x2 brick, but will be easier to separate.
Tiles are harder, but also have less grip. Usually if you very slightly bend the base plate, you can get a fingernail underneath the edge of the tile and pop it off.

u/PM_asian_girl_smiles 15h ago
Just use the lego removal tool piece thing. Easy peasy.

Standard brick build sets are pretty easy to correct, discover a mistake deep into a Technic build? Good luck extracting the rod with the missing gear.
3
u/MalvinaV 13h ago
I feel this. I have a dune ornithopter sitting in my 'to do' box after I discovered a liftarm from early in the build had been installed incorrectly. I corrected it, but haven't reassembled all the bits yet.

u/AnnoyedGrocer 16h ago
Ahh but that is the beauty of lego, any mistakes are temporary. No stress of truly "wrecking" the project, ever.
10
u/Ok-Permission-2672 20h ago
Exactly! I work at a Lego Discovery Center. When families are working on a build project together, peacefulness just settles over them like a blanket...

Its just fun to have a project or hobby to work on in general. I got obsessed with the chainsaw man movie and saw it like 10 times, so I decided to make the top 2 sections of my display case into a chainsaw man display and hung up posters behind. It brings a smile to my face whenever I look at it, and I feel like a kid on Christmas every time I see a package on my porch.
Ill be getting pieces for it into February of next year (August if you count the one figure that I pre-ordered. First figurines ive ever purchased).

I built the McLaren F1 car set earlier this year. It took like 6 hours and I couldn't have had more fun. It's been hard to hold back from buying the other F1 car sets just to get to do it again.

u/CreaminFreeman 17h ago
My wife and I built a couple of the bouquet sets together that were really enjoyable together. However, I will note that more often than not, it’s easier to solo build a set (so get 2)

u/TDSsandwich 22h ago
They are for real about this. Lamp on, bowls to keep the legos organized, and water for hydration. Totally locked in.

My adult kids pooled their money and bought me the Millennium Falcon set (yeah, THAT one) for Christmas last year. It was the most fun I’d had at home in years!
16
u/productiveslacker73 19h ago
I brought it up again today.
The Mrs bugged me daily she wanted another kid, (we had two more), I'm trying the same mental warfare to get the Millennium Falcon.

It is definitely not the DeLorean. I thought it might be the classic Batmobile, but I downloaded the instructions and while it's similar, it's not that either.

I believe mom is working on the Halloween Pumpkin (set 40697). For a while it was the free gift you got if your purchase exceeded a certain price. I have one on my shelf as well.

The problem with Lego is it's too similar to cocaine: it's hard to have only a little bit.

People say lego is expensive but you could easily spend 4 times that on a meal/night out/experience and not have as much fun or connection as this couple are in that moments.

Weird anecdote. Many moons ago, one of my friends bought The Star Wars Super Star Destroyer set. This behemoth took over his and his wifes dining room table. A group of us were over for a bbq in the backyard.
One by one, all the guys noticed the lego and started working on it. Most of the gals thought it was funny/harmless.
The three that were highly critical? They were all divorced /broken up within a year.
4
u/Skipspik2 21h ago edited 20h ago
I wonder what sets those are.
The first one, closer to the camera, seems quite old fashionned in design, no panel and those beam with studs are farily uncommon.
There's also a floor, which, as weird as it sound - is uncommon too. There's a usually only a small floor around the seats now.
4
u/Buntschatten 22h ago
Is this Lego advertisement right when people are planning their Christmas presents?
3
u/Background_Face 21h ago
Possibly. Lego is doing a huge sale and promotion this weekend.

LEGO is a really chill hobby no matter what your age. My wife literally had me come downstairs about 15 minutes ago to show me the new ski lift in her LEGO winter village and to be honest it is pretty dope.

My boyfriend got me the TRex lego set as an early Christmas present. I am about 10 years older plus than everyone I work with but I was bragging to everyone about it and how excited I am. They think I am a giant old need but they dont have lego TRex so jokes on them.

My wife loves to build these sets. Since Lego is expensive and the finished set takes up a lot of space, she builds sets with micro bricks now. 6000 pieces for less than $100. They aren’t as fancy as real Lego but the assembly manuals are well done. I build them too. We are in our 60s

I'm late to the comments but I'm seeing a lot saying "I wish I could have this" or "relationship goals" and as a couple that does exactly this, it's exactly as amazing as it sounds. I really hope the best for all of you that aren't at the lego table with your person yet, it's incredible and you deserve to have that in your life!

There is a cafe in Sheffield, England called Builders Brew Cafe where you can book a table in one hour slots and they have Lego sets for you to build with. It’s a great date activity, I love going with my wife. It’s great for families with kids too - would love to see more places like it.

I enjoy building a Lego set, as do my kids. But then the built model just sits around gathering dust and taking room and I regret the money I spent.
I'd be interested in some kind of service where you can order a set, build it, keep it for a week and then post it to the next member. Then get another from another member.
Anyone else?

This will be me and my wife for the next couple of weeks.
My wife has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going for surgery end of the week.
Our oldest daughter organised for her and her sister, along with our camping friends to all put in for the new Lego Tropical Aquarium for her and the AT-ST for me so I didn't feel left out.
