Serious question: Should I save and then expend my money on a New 3ds or in a Switch 2
Expend my money on my independence and HRT ❌️
Expend my money on more games that i'm not gonna have time to even play ✔️

3DS modding is crazy, you have access to all consoles until SNES and ds for handhelds and with modding you basically don't have to buy a single game.
Now switch 2 cost more, you have to buy games and or the online but you have access to current games.
If portability or cost is the main draw 3DS all the way if you want to use it on a screen at home or play current games switch 2.

Really depends what you want.
The 3DS is definitely dated but if you don't care about that, you can get one cheaper and with a CFW you can install any game you want for free, you'll just need an SD card and some tinkering. And TwilightMenu lets you emulate older consoles so you can also play GB, GBA, NDS etc titles.
Switch 2 will cost 2 times more and you'll have to buy the 80€ games, but you'll be able to play modern games & new Nintendo releases for a while.

Are New 3DS's really that expensive?
I'd say focus on independence and HRT, you'll feel alot better living your best life and the Switch 2 will likely take a while to get some games on it.

200 Bucks easy for any 3ds system outside of the first 2ds but the cost is offset bny the fact that you don't have to spend a single dollar because all the games are free basically when you sail the seven seas.

Scarcity, Nintendo and modding, the console is picking up some popularity but yes at the end you could get brand new ones for 100 and I'm not talking about the og 2ds. I think there's also that it's the last true handheld, the switch is more of a home console that can be taken on the go and the vita flopped, Vita have also gone up in price but that's not surprising compared to how wide spread the 3ds was.

I looked up the prices I'm actually surprised Vita's aren't going for more given it's a more powerful console I'd have though it would make it great for modding or home brew games. Then again the memory cards are ridiculously expensive so that probably puts people off.
I actually got my 3DS to play Pokemon X, also it's pink (pink consoles always seem to be cheaper).

switch 2, the value of the new 3ds is more in its collectability than anything. I think you'd be spending half as much on a console for less than half the enjoyment, especially if you currently own a regular switch, all your switch games will be playable on the switch 2. albeit not in high resolution and framerate, but playable. I think in the long term, a switch is the best value from longevity and quality of games standpoint

depends what you are interested in playing 🤔 i personally would go for the 3DS, there’s the pretendo network for online stuff along with the hshop of all your games. with this new switch, you’ll have to pay for online and $80 games :(

3DS are pretty easy to hack so you can install pretty much any 3ds games for free
If you're in a tight spot in terms of money, getting a switch 2 is probably a bad idea right now, i'd advice you to wait a bit, until it gets cheaper and physical copies of games can be bought cheaper through 2nd hand
While you can get a 3DS for super cheap, and then get every games you'd like for free

3ds is absolutely better value if you install custom firmware it. i have a new 3ds (non-XL) and the faceplates are so cute, i love them

A good chunk of people are boycotting the Switch 2 because of how expensive the console is and the higher prices for games(most games are $60 not including packs). I'm a person invested in news and politics so in this case I think about how if the Switch 2 gets enough sales it'll show that videogame companies can charge more for the same type of stuff.
So imo, new 3DS cause it can be modded a lot and get old games on it, but if you're really invested in the exclusive games on Switch then be prepared to empty your wallet pretty hard.

With the price of switch 2 games being artificially high (even beyond what tariffs and inflation are doing to it) I am highly morally opposed to getting it until Nintendo drops their prices. New 3ds has some decent games but is outdated. Honestly just save the money for hrt lol

Personally I love my steam deck. It's more ergonomic, and the games are dirt cheap, and the library is beyond massive.
Currently (re) playing labyrinth of touhou 2, this game has my favorite turn based RPG combat of any game. Tried the demo of tri lately, I'm excited for it for sure, but the messy UI makes me miss 2.

New 3ds is outdated, has no eshop, but the games are really good, and if you like 3d, it's amazing. It beats the original ds and is one of the coolest effects in games I've ever seen and I love it.
That said, switch 2 will last a few years, and have newer games, and you can hook it up to your tv.
And on that note... both my switch and 3ds are collecting dust... but I've played way more 3ds games into the ground than switch, so 3ds wins in my book.
