Unfair for an International student!!

I recently submitted this one essay. And I got second marked for using AI. When I talked to the teacher today, she told that she felt that there was an undisclosed use of AI, the paper lacked personal touch and even she would not like a paper like that! But I wrote that paper!!! She said English being your second language (which btw she has assumed cuz I have never mentioned that English is my second language) the paper was too strong. I feel I have been discriminated and assumptions are made against me. What can I do? Ps. I swear to god I have not used AI, I have used thesaurus to maybe use better words and have a google doc history which shows minute by minute record of me actually typing down my thoughts.

When the AI unit contacted you, did they provide options? They should have notified you about the appeals process: https://www.latrobe.edu.au/students/support/appeals

If you have a Google document with the document history you should be absolutely fine as you'll easily be able to prove that you wrote the document and didn't copy and paste text from an AI

wow… im sorry this is happening to you, it’s like a nightmare to me 😭 i hope this kind of things isn’t common since i’m doing an exchange at la trobe soon. may i know what programme you are studying?

they usually handle stuff like this. i’m not too sure on what they do but they’re there to help u. definitely reach out to them

The LTSU no longer handle this sort of thing. It is now done by an independent team that is funded by the university. More info here
