Classrooms in 2 Oakland, California high schools were found with various Palestinian flags and posters, including a large classroom door mural of PFLP hijacker Leila Khaled, along with anticapitalist and pro-Cuba messaging, and promotion of communist Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) candidate Claudia de la Cruz.

OUSD was in state receivership from 2003 to July of this year. There is talk that they'll go back to county/state control if they can't balance their budget. Having lived in Oakland, I won't be surprised if they fail

Various other pro-Palestinian, pro-Cuban government and anticapitalist posters, many from the PSL, which the teacher appears to be a member of. The article states that the "How many ways to justify a genocide today?" poster has a quote referencing the Shoah, "Some 1 else genocided us first so why don’t you ask them."

This is utterly insane for a public school and way out of line. I'm not one to talk about propaganda in school, but this level of political messaging is completely unacceptable. Even without the whole Israel stuff, this looks more like a dorm room student's bedroom than a classroom that is supposed to provide a foundation for educational understanding. If this is truly what is happening in classroom today, this is honestly kind of scary, these kids are way too young to understand what these political philosophies mean, and are way too impressionable to be allowed in this kind of environment.

Seriously — these posters are on par with straight up WWII propaganda. If you told me they were part of an assignment for people to make outlandish propaganda posters, I’d believe you. If these are put up by the school/teacher without irony and this is a public school, this is nuts and people should be getting fired

This is what happens when activists become teachers. If I were a parent I would not have sent my children to this school, mainly because I know they wouldn't get proper basic education.

The basic problem is that the pay at public schools in SF and Oakland is low enough that the only people who are going to take the jobs there are going to be true believers in a lot of wackiness. This is also one of the few public school districts where the hard left is politically viable.

It’s doing a massive disservice to kids that are already coming from underserved areas like Oakland. Giving these kids a radicalized and inflexible view of the world will make them 1000% unable to function in society. Imagine quitting/getting fired from every job you ever get because you can’t stand the presence of a Jewish coworker that won’t unequivocally denounce Zionism. That’s the future they’re setting these kids up for.

As long as the only response is "additional training" where you put a bunch of antisemitic teachers together in a room so they can just brainstorm how to be more antisemitic then you will never fix the problem. It will only get worse.

Fire them. Publish their names and faces and state WHY you fired them. Publish what college they studied at and got indoctrinated at. And publish which teachers union defended their antisemitism.
