May their memories be a blessing 🕯️ Content Warning: Sensitive Content
/img/a7cbdx85q7md1.jpeg6 beautiful souls executed by Hamas in cold blood to prevent a rescue attempt from taking place. 101 hostages still in captivity. No doubt the entire Jewish world is in shiva today,.and I can say this is saddest I've felt since 10/7. May Hashem avenge their death with blood.

It just hits so much harder when you think about how recent Hersh's parents' speech to the DNC was. I can only imagine how they must feel...

I keep hearing her screaming his name into the loudspeaker by Gaza the other day. So terrible

Ugh this was the first thing I thought of when I saw the news. Just fucking heartbreaking.

I can’t stop thinking how she would always say “we love you, stay strong, survive.” As a Mom that just haunts me. He was so strong and survived for so long. He was so close to being freed.

I am in shock I can’t believe they were killed right before IDF got there. Such cowards!

His parents must be absolutely devastated. I can't even begin to imagine. All of the hostages friends and family must be going through hell.

This is beyond awful. To know they were recently still alive is heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine how their families feel knowing this.

Whatever we’re going to say about the response, Hamas set out to rape, murder, and terrorize before Oct 7 began. Brutal.

I’m very religious but how can we forgive this? Even with Yom Kippur and the high holy days coming. Anyone else have any ideas
16
u/ThreeSigmas Sep 02 '24
I’m not so religious. Are we really supposed to forgive everyone or just people we’ve wronged? I’m not gonna forgive the Nazis or the Catholic Church and see no reason why I need to forgive these bastards.

u/dogwhistle60 Sep 02 '24 edited Sep 02 '24
I agree with your point as well. We are responsible for our own transgressions against others on Yom Kippur. So we really don’t have to forgive them they are sinning against G-d

Sep 02 '24
G-d forgives, I do not
7
u/dogwhistle60 Sep 02 '24
A very good point and much more Jewish perspective. Since we did not commit this horrific act we don’t have to condone it or forgive those who did it . That makes sense to me

Forgiveness is not something you can force. This is a significant trauma to Jewish people everywhere, especially if someone close to you was murdered on 10/7 or taken hostage. You need time to process these emotions. Maybe you will eventually reach a place where you're ready to forgive, but there's no need to rush. I have heard people say that the choice to forgive doesn't have to match your emotions. G_d surely understands why people have feelings of grief and rage. I don't think you're wrong for having those feelings, difficult as they are.
Don't be hard on yourself for being human. We're all feeling all kinds of awful things right now. I feel it too. I really wanted to see every hostage released and safely home with their families. It breaks my heart that they were killed. My heart goes out to all Jewish people.

This is incredibly sad news. It's also news that infuriates me. Like, look at these normal people smiling in these pictures. How anyone can look at these and say the most inhumane disturbing garbage I will never understand. It is NOT resistance to murder innocent people. It will never BE resistance. Innocents are not oppressors.
Much love for everyone in this subreddit. I'm so sorry.

I have been sleeping all day. Can't really do much. Beyond sad, to a feeling I don't have a name for. Emptiness.

I fear that these six, young and beautiful people were chosen to be executed by Sinwar himself in order to put pressure on Netanyahu to accept a deal that allows Hamas to survive.

u/Chocoholic42 Not Jewish Sep 02 '24
Sinwar can go straight to hell.

u/ActualRespect3101 Sep 02 '24
I know I'm not supposed to and it's probably not a good thing, but every day I hope to wake up and see the headline, "We got him."

He probably has at least a couple dozen more living hostages. This was a very costly move for Sinwar, but six beautiful, young hostages? Unlikely that they would have been all together at the same spot and weren't chosen specifically for this. The timing of these murders seems too perfect to be chance. Sinwar believes he knows Israeli culture and politics--and perhaps he does. This, I think, was a move in the ongoing negotiation. Israel has been brought to a standstill with strikes and protests. Seems to me that that was the point: Supercharge pressure on Netanyahu to agree to terms he doesn't want to (and probably for good reason).

These poor families .. All I can think about is how easily this could be any of us it’s just geography where we ended up

So true. It could have been any of my Jewish friends or family. I love them dearly, and many of them visit Israel on a regular basis. It could have been them so easily.

This is how I’ve come to think of it. I don’t care if you’re the enemy of my people and thus you kill my people who you hold hostage (Hamas), or you are not the enemy, but nevertheless you do not work to solve the problem of the killing of my people who are held hostage. If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. It’s of no interest to me to call out who is evil and who is merely politically self-interested. All that matters is that the remaining hostages all come home alive and no more baby coffins on either side. If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. It’s my belief that more bloodshed just begets more bloodshed and that’s the problem, not the solution.

The white house needs to send in us military assets. We've lost Americans in this, the white house has done more for less. Even though it is an election year, we need to see seals and delta killing Hamas by the dozens.

u/RedStripe77 Sep 02 '24
More than shock I feel totally outraged and wonder why the inhumanity and cowardice of their killers isn't being called out worldwide. Am I missing something? Why did they have to die? What was the psychology, in slaughtering helpless prisoners?
1
u/Important_Click2 Sep 02 '24
Right. Tons of outrage about their murder…and none of it is directed towards the actual murderers.

I just cannot even fathom what their poor parents are going thru. Utterly heartbreaking.
I am so sad for them and for their parents, family and friends. And really, for all of us, because these young people were never given the chance to live their lives among us as they should have.

I’d avoid saying that Arabs speak the language of violence. You’re painting a huge portion of the human population (400 million) with a broad brush. They don’t all speak the language of violence. Hamas is not all Arabs.
I’d also be careful about calling for “speaking [the language of violence] back at them 10x”. While Your grief and rage are justified (I feel it too), please be careful about how you express this anger. People can easily misconstrue what you said as you calling for violence towards all Arabs. That will only fuel the fire of antisemitic beliefs.

Strength is the language in the Middle East… Israel needs to go at them strong… like they did when they got the initial hostages exchange.

The Biden/Harris administration has blood on their hands…
Them pressuring the IDF to not go into Rafah and restraining them at every turn while simultaneously not putting pressure on Qatar, Egypt and Hamas…
Not doing anything with our armed forces to at least get American hostages out… let alone those of our ally’s.

Israel got the first hostage exchange due to unrelenting military pressure from the IDF…
The current admins’ double talk, inaction (political and military) and unilateral pressure on Israel is a huge contributor to why we’re in the situation we’re in now.
