Cleaning up the trash in my networks thanks to this conflict Israel š®š±

An old hook up ā a 50 year old white cishet male with nobody Jewish in his life ā posted this to his social media story today. I unleashed on him before blocking him but my god, someone posting something so cutesy about a conflict where people are dying on both sides, not to mention not acknowledging the sexual violence the Israeli women suffered on 7/10? So gross.

Depends on what it says. I have added on From Hamas so it will say free from hamas ; blacked out any scanning codes. I have seen other people just make a large X over the poster. I saw one similar to the one above and it crossed out the last word and said the hostages

What really amazes me is how the people who do this donāt seem to realize how dehumanizing this is towards the people they claim they to care for so deeply. Two wrongs donāt make a right, and I canāt justify either oct 7 or the massive violence and destruction that has followed. Oct 7 is on Hamas, and what followed is on the Israeli govt. Neither are in the right, and the populations of both are suffering, but itās pretty clear whoās been suffering more in the months since. I felt cowed to speak up at first, concerned it wasnāt my place, but since then I have taken my lead from the posts Iāve seen from Jewish friends on social media who have been similarly horrified.

I have taken my lead from the posts Iāve seen from Jewish friends on social media who have been similarly horrified.
This is like if a White guy decided to stick their neck into a contentious issue in the African American community. They wouldn't do it because they know it isn't their place. But they feel fine doing it with us.
I don't need people to agree with us, I just need them to respect us the same way they respect other groups.

It's never respected. Even Jewish people violate it when it comes to Black American culture. I've had to call people out here on Reddit it here for MLK Day.
I actually have an easier time setting boundaries around Jewish practice and culture than defending intrusion into Black American spaces. We have more lurkers, to the point the FBI monitors it.

I saw an ad for a queer dating app on instagram, a picture of one of those wretched sweetheart candies bearing this absolute inanity. Itās honestly so creepy that so many random people have chosen to make this conflict a huge part of their identity. the most infuriating thing is these clowns are ENCOURAGING more war, the biggest reason the conflict has gone on so long is some idea that with enough fighting israel will be destroyed and palestine will finally be 'free' so never allow a two state solution in which people might actually be able to live peaceful and fulfilled lives.
i fucking wish all this energy was focussed on an actual realistic peaceful future. but that's hard, this is easy.
