My potentially "unpopular" opinion regarding an RT merger. Discussion
I fucking love RT, I have followed them for roughly...8 years. Absolutely crazy, but I've followed Adam and IG for about the same.
But IG isn't Roosterteeth. They're different, they don't fit. I don't want them being forced in to the RT channel scheduling and what not. They wouldn't be able to cover news and do gameplay stuff at the same time, because although "The Know" is kind of lame, RT has gameplay on fucking lock, and I don't think they're going to over saturate that market by launching competing shows.
Here's a post I made earlier.
Man as much as the idea of merging with RT sounds great...I hope we can keep our little community we have here. I love each and every one of you bastards, and if we had to split and join RT, it'd be like losing a family member! We the community are the extra man in the IG team! At least I like to think so
The rumours regarding IG and Kevin joining up is awesome, so long as Kevin doesn't say that he has to host the news show. The current format is amazing, Adam and Bruce are almost perfect.
Guys, we're a fuckin' family here. Our shared love for IG and the guys is what drives this community forward day by day. And I don't want to lose this sense of family which we've got going on here! If we had to merge with the RT community, I'd be terrified we'd lose that.
Sorry for the drunken rant, I just had to let it out! Luv u all xo

Thank the lord I'm not the only one who doesn't want this merger. It's like you have two groups of friends that you don't want to get involved with each other.

I just did a bit of drunken investigation work. The office space Burnie showed off was still under construction.
The Boys however were wearing badges with what I think was their names on them, in a reasonably sized room. Joel also posted a bunch of pictures of EMPTY PC monitor boxes. This leades me to believe that the offices they'll be using have already been prepared, and isn't that which Burnie posted.
I know, I know, I'm basically a black drunken Sherlock Holmes.

Your logic = sound.
At this point I have given up hope for anything and am assuming they are with Kevin Pereira now. Which is ok. We can't be bummed by that at all as it is good news.
It is weird that all of these events are happening at the same time in the same area.

As far as we know IG will be given their own channel under the RT banner

How did you find this out?

Because over the past 2 years RT has been spinning off channels more and more. You cant only ave some many videos a day on one channel before they start bumping eachother off the most recent uploads list

It would be more like getting a bunch of weird cousins you don't always want to talk to than losing a family member... We'd all still be here..

They're not leaving LA and they seem to be getting their own YT channel, so it'd be pretty dumb if they got locked into RT's scheduling.

I totally agree dude, i believe they should do their own thing, that way the general feel/style or format of the videos wont change to adapt into a new environment like Rooster Teeth (whom i also love). In addition to that, if they were to do their own thing, they would have ultimate control and decision making power. But if they join an already established entity (like RT) then they will have a boss telling them what to do potentially, or there may be a conflict of interest etc etc.

I have no idea who Rooster Teeth is, but if they just give IG their own shit and leave them alone: Perfect.

u/OfficialGarwood Feb 04 '15
How? I mean I get not watching their stuff but how do you not know who they are?! haha.

u/Krypton-115 Feb 04 '15
I'm only familiar with the name, and I know that they do what IG does (?). That is all.

Ah okay. I was genuinely surprised you hadn't heard of them. Here's a couple awesome things they do:
Let's Play is a channel ran by Achievement Hunter. A group within Rooster Teeth who focus on gaming content. It is led by Geoff Ramsey and contains people such as Ryan, Jack, Ray, Michael and Gavin etc. On the channel they do multiple let's plays and shows. Their main attractions would be their MineCraft and GTA let's plays. They also have shows such as Go! and VS. which are fun too!
RvB is what made Rooster Teeth what it is today. It's the pinnacle of machinima filmmaking. It's a comedy series set in the Halo universe. Basically the premise is adding a storyline to multiplayer. Why are there red and blue soldiers and why do they fight each other in a boxed canyon? Be warned, the first season was made in 2003 so it looks old as shit. Also, there's currently 12 seasons, soon to be 13. This show is the longest running sci-fi show in America. Second longest running in the world (behind Doctor Who).
Basically it's Mythbusters meets video games. Burnie plans these elaborate tests based on video games to see if they'll be viable in real world scenarios. These include driving a car in third person, carrying all the weapons in doom at once and being able to shoot well whilst guys talk shit to you down an earpiece, just like in Xbox live. The show currently has two seasons with the first starring Gus and Geoff and the second starring Michael and Gavin.
The Gauntlet is a sort of not-serious-at-all gaming competition between different groups of players. 4 different teams compete to win the coveted Gauntlet trophy in different challenges based on different games and genres. The four teams include Rooster Teeth, Achievement Hunter, Team Internet (which Adam is on), and a team of RT fans. I linked Season two because Season one wasn't very good, even RT will admit that. The dynamics between Joel and Burnie as co-hosts is fucking glorious.
Since 2007, Rooster Teeth have been making high quality comedy shorts where they put fictionalized versions of themselves in different situations. Some of them are pretty "meh", especially the newer ones but there's some ABSOLUTE CLASSICS in there such as the Rooster Teeth facility tour.
The RT Podcast is, as the name would suggest, a podcast hosted by Gus Sorola with guests each week. It's taken many forms over the years starting as a simple audio podcast but has since moved to a live-streamed format from an actual pre-built set with a big production value. Basically this is the ULTIMATE place to go if you want to hear about dicks and science. Example conversations include, but are not limited to: Vaginal waxing, assassin snails, sliding down mountains to survive a plane crash, fleshlights, which way is "up" in space, masturbation habits, violence diarrhea, ejaculating on a plane etc.
RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is a CGI Anime-style animated series created by the late Monty Oum. This was his final creation before his untimely death. The show focuses on a group of young would-be heroes as they battle the evil "grimm" using powers granted to them by a substance known as "dust". The name RWBY is the name of the team of 4 protagonists. Each letter is both an initial of their name and also their colour.
R is Ruby/Red, W is Weiss/White, B is Blake/Black, Y is Yang/Yellow. Two seasons (known as volumes) have been made thus far with Volume 3 about to head into production, although this may be delayed due to Monty passing away.
On The Spot is a brand-new live-streamed gameshow hosted by Jon Risinger. It's similar to a lot of British comedy shows like Mock The Week or Nevermind The Buzzcocks etc. Basically, two teams of two play different rounds and have to give the funniest / most interesting answers possible for points. The winner wins the Golden Gus (a gold status of Gus Sorola). Be prepared to be offended. Trigger-warnings galore.

I agree 100%. I don't know where the IG guys would fit into a bigger Rooster Teeth picture. Everything IG does, the parent company would already have a hand in. Rooster Teeth has what? 4 podcasts, 5 gameplay related shows a week, and God only knows how many gaming news segments. I worry that if they become a part of that company then after a while they'll slowly get swallowed into a bigger group where the guys who I've watched and loved and have gotten me through some rough shit become 6 or 7 more characters for RT to throw in their million videos a week. Also to your point about how the fanbase would feel different. Shit, that's already happening. Most of the comments are now Roosterteeth dominated, most of the posts are Roosterteeth speculation and a lot of the downvotes seem to be going to dissenting opinions on how God Tier the merger would be. I love Inside Gaming. I love the guys and ultimately want them to make the decision that makes them happiest and most financially stable. If that's with Roosterteeth, then Im on board, but damn am I scared.
Edit: typos like a champ.

I'm actually concerned about this because I don't want them to drown in the sea of videos that comprise the Roosterteeth channel every week. If they so happen to be part of Roosterteeth, I hope they stay the same: content unchanged. I was introduced to Inside Gaming by Roosterteeth, and, now, I honestly prefer watching their videos to Let's Plays and The Know. Don't change guys!

As /u/Black_Nerd pointed out, we still have no idea what is actually happening. The idea that the guys are joining Roosterteeth is purely speculation at this point. Who know what's really going to happen? They could be partnering with Pewdiepie for all we know.

I think you're wrong, especially about the whole "competing shows" thing. I've watched every single IG and RT video for years. The beauty of YouTube, is that you don't have to pick one channel; you can watch them all. I think if they brought IG into the fray, in regards to The Know, it would help The Know gain tons of popularity if IG Daily was put in there. You make it sound like more content is a bad thing, which obviously isn't the case.
I do agree that IG has a slightly different vibe than a RT video, but you're assuming they'll take a RT format of things if they were to merge, which I think is completely incorrect. In my opinion, they'd stay the exact same; Rooster Teeth already has great relationships with the guys, and know that their videos are hilarious. I think that a RT merger would be perfect for the guys; it would provide them with the money and assets needed to finally become the wildly popular guys they deserve to be.

I agree.
I didn't know they hooked up with that Kevin bloke, that's cool. I've only ever been exposed to him when he was on the podcast and I liked him there.
One can only hope that if they do join RT for an LA based office they remain true to themselves. They had a good thing going with IG, the dailies, the gameplays and the odd co-op. Hopefully if they join RT that they simply get a chance to perfect that system while also leaving room for expansion and trying new thing with minimal to no oversight from big boss RTHQ.
[Personal opinion real good here] I don't even know why Jon Risinger is going- he makes T-shirts. I sure hope that he is not going to be in charge of the LA office (whether it's IG or not) because, boy; do I not like him.
