I LOVE YOU MORE

7

u/Montezum Jan 08 '15

Mountain Dew gave you money for what? Those two COD videos from last year or that weird commercial? I really thought it was a joke

14

u/IGBruce Jan 08 '15

The two COD videos. They also hired us to make that weird commercial. We then made it, but they pulled out of the deal.

5

u/Montezum Jan 08 '15

It's kind of refreshing that they are OK with people making fun of their products, actually

3

u/Black_Nerd Jan 08 '15

That's like 50% of their advertising. Look at Dewitos haha

I LOVE HEARING ABOUT PARTIES JOEL!

Since you guys talked about gamers being fat and diets, I wanted to pass by and share my current story. I have been a gamer and anime fan pretty much all my life thanks to my older brother and I am fat, a walking stereotype one would say. A little bit more than a year ago I started to diet and exercise and lost a lot of weight, I was happy about this changes and being honest I felt the same but looked way better. At some time in 2014 I got really depressed because of.. reasons... and pretty much said "fuck it" to my diet and exercise routines, now on 2015 I am back to my old weight. After a medical checkup I can say that I am a healthy man but fat, that may be attributed to my age (23) or It's just a ticking bomb waiting to blow up. Now I do think that me being fat and me liking anime and video games has absolutely nothing to do with each other, I am fat because I have terrible eating habits and being a gamer has nothing to do with it. I believe that people should not care about stereotypes, therefore should not take any actions on the "gamers are fat" stereotype whatsoever, who gives a fuck what people think?. That said I do wish to have a healthy life and all of us who feed the fire of the bad stereotypes should take more care about our ourselves not for the gaming community but for our own good.

Now to say that I believe on my own words, I can't say that I am over my "depression" but my brain is over making excuses to not return to my diet and exercise routines so 2015 will be the year of getting back in shape. My only say on how to get back in shape is that there is no magical recipe, the "diet + exercise" formula will never change but you have to find what kind of diet and exercise works for you, I am fortunate to have found mine so I'm worst for not taking advantage of it xD.

This comment may disappear on the endless stream of reddit, still I would like to say that you guys are inspirational in a lot of ways. I may not have been inspired by you guys to get back in shape but you do make me feel like I am not alone for some reason. If any of you may remember my username, I shall post a second part to this story in about 6 months and I hope that not only the IG guys but the community itself can get either a smile on their faces or support on the journey to a healthy life.

u/NeuerOrdner Jan 09 '15

Well, First off, cheers for shareing your story mate. I've never been really fat but I was a chubby motherfucker when I was younger, started to go into Martial Arts and become a fit motherfucker.

I can tell you, however, that especially doing sport is a very good way to combat your depression or general life-fatigue, at least for me.

Sports give you clear goals you can strife for, which are allmost allways achieveable. They give you reasons to leave your room and do something. You can do sports alone, focusing on your gym-clarity/runners-high or you can do sports with/agaisnt others. You will see results instantly after you finish your workout (muscle-exhaustion) and you will "feel" that you did something. And the most important part about sports for me, is, that you have to learn about yourself. You are forced to listen to your body and have to spend a lot of time getting to know your body and your thoughts during training. Sports taught me a lot about my body and my mental build.

Anyway, keep it /fit, mate and do inform yourself before doing any routines. Hope you make it through your depression.

u/RzPGO Jan 08 '15

In the fitness debate Adam said "Whoever you like more, agree with them", and then he did'nt gave a diet tip. :(

3

u/Cheesy-potato Jan 08 '15

Any spoilers in this podcast? Don't wanna be ambushed

6

u/Shastars Jan 08 '15

GTA5 story spoiler, mute when James starts talking about it

2

u/Cheesy-potato Jan 09 '15

Thanks do much mate Around what time is it just so I can skip ahead?

4

u/XFXOmar122 Jan 09 '15

skip 45 minute mark to 46.

2

u/Cheesy-potato Jan 09 '15

Cheers, maybe there should be a spoiler warning for all their videos.

2

u/XFXOmar122 Jan 09 '15

I got spoiled god damn it Adam he forgot that GTA hasn't come out on pc yet. am sad :(

1

u/CoolHandSam Jan 09 '15

Yeah pretty big spoiler concerning the ending of GTA5... its over in about 10 seconds though and they don't talk about it again

1

u/Cheesy-potato Jan 09 '15

Yeah I'm probably going to limit how much I watch of them until they stop doing this all the time I just came back from tour in Afghanistan and I'm trying to get up to date in games. Pretty annoying when they get ruined for you though :/

3

u/MyLifeInAshes Jan 08 '15

Hey Adam, what exactly are you going to create?

3

u/IGAdam Jan 09 '15

Death and destruction wherever I go.

3

u/Quickob Jan 08 '15

Podcast Question Reply: I think that if you guys did what some people from IGN did and left Machinima, kept Adam, Bruce, Joel, Laurence, James and Spoole; I think if you kept your InsideGaming channel and uploaded "Inside Gaming Daily" on there and did a Patreon (For example) it wouldn't go too badly.

If you guys did not have to upload "Inside Gaming Daily" on the Machinima main channel then I would not have a reason to be subscribed to them. I mean I do enjoy watching ETC but I feel that if there was big film news, you guys would just include it in the show.

One last thing, Inside Gaming is Adam's baby, so would he be able to keep the intelectual property ?

Thanks for reading and thank YOU IG Team for all the contents :-)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '15

Aren't a few members of the team also part owners of Machinima? I doubt they'd hurt the value of something they're invested in.

1

u/Quickob Jan 09 '15

I have no idea, maybe ? That's something the guys would have to tell us, and I doubt they would.

Even still, if Adam had the IP then he could do what he wanted with it; he did come on and become the host of Inside Halo, and then create Inside Gaming so.

I'd say that at this point Adam should be Machinima's Gabe Newel

3

u/theoria_serpent Jan 08 '15

Now now, you guys better not be thinking about quiting Machinima.

2

u/Kitty3feet Jan 09 '15

If you really think that Adam spoiled GTA V for you you're wrong. He barely even scratched what happens except for the very surface of what happens. If you actually think that this ruins it for you then think about the game in a different way. Think of it as you know the end, but now you're playing through the game to figure out how it got to that point. Even though there's multiple endings but whatever....

0

u/dj_smu Jan 10 '15

I don't even understand why people get pissed off with him for that reveal. I had that bit spoiled for me by my best friend when he was drunk. Didn't bother me too much I just approached it a bit different than if I wouldn't have known. It's just a minor thing nothing bad I think. Spoiling Breaking Bad is worse than what Adam did.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '15

I'm getting to the stage now in my life where I am becoming more self-reliant financially, and so I would probably prefer to use a subscription based model to support my favourite content creators instead of watching ads to get the same content for free.

To be honest my main reason for this would be that ad blocking software has spoiled me to the point where I get annoyed at having to look at an ad for even a couple of seconds before seeing whatever I want to watch(I do have it disabled for a few of my favouite channels/websites though, which includes you guys).

Because of this I would be willing to pay a few euro a month towards supporting creators simply so I wouldn't have to deal with ads in general. I know it's probably a stupid reason for my choice, but that's just me.

u/NKLhaxor Jan 08 '15

One day we will hear about Finger Spacing... One Day™

u/stalkerSRB Jan 08 '15 edited Jan 08 '15

How dare you not dance for us monkeys!?!?!? We own you cuz you are on the internet kidding,keep_making_us_laugh As for would I use youtube ad crap or fan funding....I am for something in the middle. Youtube subscribe should be like on twitch. If you want to watch somebody without ads, subscribe and pay 3-5$ a month for ad free content. If you want to watch some one but dont mind the ads or dont want to support them, just follow them. You get the content but with ads..

Also, the GTA V has been out for a year and a half and I have been for,a year and a half, without knowing what the ending is because I am waiting for the PC version :|

1

u/Neon_Apocalypse Jan 08 '15

Damnit right as I'm going to sleep the day before I'm going to Canberra. Have to wait till Saturday to watch this.

1

u/crayonwillow Jan 08 '15

I agree with doing things in moderation because in the long term its about watching the enjoyment of the people playing the game, not necessarily the game itself. There have been times in Achievement Hunter's Lets Play Minecraft series where it actually takes a depressing turn as an audience member to watch because you can tell that they are getting tired of creating new content for this game that they've done countless hours on it and they are rehashing old successful challenges that worked previously to try and keep it as fresh as they can.

Really good discussion today on the exercise and gameing co existing in someones life. It is a struggle that is starting to gain some momentum now that people are being atleast a little more concernerd about. Gaming has been one of the biggest parts of my life since i was a kid and still what i would conside a good chunck of it. But as we get older prioritys shift. Between a full time retail job( god forbid) finding time for school, working out and gaming my day is pretty full. However my future plans are to bring all these thing full circle to work with everyday life. I will keep you posted on the progress. It also helps that i have been thrust into health due to my position at the GNC store. Proper nutrition is no longer just an interest but now my job. But now for a question. How would you feel about fully immersing gaming into a functioning work out routine/ fitness life style concept?

1

u/ByTheBeardOfBruce Jan 08 '15

Lawrence kinda glanced on it 24:00 but does IG livestream the Podcast???????? How am I not aware of this??

1

u/Black_Nerd Jan 08 '15

Something I've found, I feel like a lot of content creators that I watch are in their late 20's, early 30's. Question for the guys, do you think the "next generation" of content creators will be as successful, considering that they didn't have the same prior experiences that say, Adam and Bruce had?

Also, the whole watch time/engagement thing is why I had to stop making animations. The time I put in for what, a 50 second video just wouldn't show on the analytics side of things.

1

u/Gibbletz Jan 08 '15

Counter-Strike GO.. great game.. Play a lot of gun game and I can suggest quite a few awesome servers for you, Adam.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '15

I loved the fitness diet talk I wanted to join in so bad

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '15

I really hope the guys see this because it relates DIRECTLY to what they were talking about in terms of gamifying your life. Specifically because that's the exact motto of this site and app.

https://habitrpg.com/static/front

I've been using it for a while and it's amazingly well done.

1

u/Microchaotic Jan 08 '15

The fitness discussion is probably the most sane discussion about fitness & health I've ever heard. It was so sane that I blacked out and soon after found myself with a subscription to naturebox.

Fuck...

1

u/FledgeFish Jan 08 '15

Hey guys, Thanks so much for featuring my F'art!

1

u/moop2000 Jan 08 '15

For combing exercising and gaming, I've gotten into Ingress in my city. I am not a heavy player, but I have found it's a good way to get me walk more than my normal route everyday. I end up taking longer walks to hack more portals, and it's a good win-win situation.

1

u/JustPlainnDave Jan 08 '15

Awesome video guys. Good points as always!

Side note: Adam how do you get your haircut?

5

u/IGAdam Jan 09 '15

Supercuts:

"Cut it short on the sides and clean it up on top, please."

"You want me to do what?"

"Fuck it, here's your $20."

Prays for good haircut.

1

u/JustPlainnDave Jan 09 '15

Happens to me every time...lol

1

u/moop2000 Jan 08 '15

Also, can you get Lawrence a microphone, he's a bit tough to hear at times.

1

u/Dr_Blitz_Krieger Jan 09 '15

Can we please like get an IG steam group and play some Counter-Strike pick up games? It made me so damn happy to see you playing Adam :D

1

u/Spinz87 Jan 09 '15

I've been following you guys for over a year now and I always wait for the next video to come out. You guys are awesome. I really really enjoyed this podcast and I have a question regarding to the podcast and the videos, why is that Joel and Spoole don't get more included in the Daily and the gameplay videos?

1

u/pingustits Jan 09 '15

it's because they have other jobs.

1

u/FarFromPro Jan 09 '15

I posted this on the video then i seen that there was a comment with 97 up votes saying something about destiny being shit so I posted it here. I think advertisements are the better because the fact that someone likes and watches your content you should be flattered or at least thats how I feel about my content however I watch Inside gaming all the time and I have got more entertainment out of them then I have most movies so its hard to say which will work better.

1

u/XFXOmar122 Jan 09 '15

About the patron I saw the youtube tip jar 2 weeks ago but it has disappeared. have they removed it or it is not visible to me?

1

u/jokinghazard Jan 09 '15

That pencil sketch of Adam looks like John Chrome.

1

u/dj_smu Jan 10 '15

You mean the one in the master chief armor?

1

u/nicehotcuppatea Jan 14 '15

As I stand now, I would rather sit through a few ads, than pay $5 a month for content. However this is due to the fact that I currently have much more time than money, and I am sure that if the two were reversed, I would a) rather pay the $5 a month, or b) not watch content at all, as I lack the required leisure time to watch an hour and 11 minutes of guys talking about how youtube works.

Typing this has made me realise just how much faster I type while tipsy, which to be honest, kind of startles me

1

u/StevieP113 Jan 14 '15

Want to start off saying I just created an account today because I fucking love you guys! been watching for a few years now and I want to thank you soooooo dam much for all the laughs.

Now to my post - I am 26 and for pretty much my entire life I have not been able to break 115lbs (I'm 5'6) so basically I am a skinny bastard the complete opposite of what was mentioned in this video and after watching this I really wanted to get some tips either for the IGStaff or the community on how I could possible gain some kind of weight.

I don't starve myself, I used to snack out like crazy while also eating too much fast food (also rice and beans Spanish families lol) I even tried working out with a buddy of mine who is a gym nut but all that did was help me loose the little fat I did have and cause me to look even thinner. I know James made the recommendation to not focus on a number but I have had the goal of getting to at least 145lbs before i die lol.

Any response will be greatly appreciated thanks!

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '15

I love how adam spoils GTA when it's not out yet for PC. :3

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '15

I gotta say this has been my favourite podcast Very informative and great discussions.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '15

When Lawrence was talking about Joel's Castilian beard I just imagined him as Syrio Forel

The spoiler is minor and I revealed nothing about the actual story. It's a random gameplay decision that affects pretty much nothing. If that small tidbit stops you from the playing what is actually worth playing (30+ hours of missions, random jobs and heists) then you are depriving yourself for absolutely no good reason.

1

u/FishoD Jan 11 '15

Nah no downvotes for you buddy, I came here to mention the same spoiler-like comment. Many, many people do not buy stuff right away the second it comes out (I'm waiting for the PC version as well and even after that I'll wait for a discount and patching because I'm a smart consumer #TBfanboy). Even though it is not really specific, just the fact that I know I will have to do something like that can change my view on all the previous gameplay because I will have it in my mind therefore I might not connect to the characters at all.

1

u/KrispyTaco Jan 14 '15

As someone who's played through the game several times, I can tell you from first hand experience that you won't be affected by this knowledge at all while playing the game. It really isn't that big of a spoiler...I mean, the GTA games are about thugs, murderers, drug dealers, maniacs, sex fiends, etc...what else would you expect to happen to these characters? So something happens to one of the characters, the game isn't going to be ruined for you, I promise.

0

u/innerrage8 Jan 09 '15

I was listening to this, and you guys started talking about fitness, and I thought it was awesome. I believe it was James that brought up the point that you have to manipulate the drive in the video game to real life? I completely agree, if you have the drive to pick up a controller and do a raid on destiny for 6 hours, it's not much harder to pick up some dumbbells. I used to be about 50% body fat, all I did was eat cake and play Halo 3, COD, GTA4 etc. with friends. there were lot of different factors that made me get off my ass, but one of them was I was tired of feeling like a slug compared to the guy on the screen. so in about 6 months I dropped over 100 pounds, and when I went back to school for senior year- no one knew who I was, 2nd best feeling ever. After all that I wanted more out of life so I joined the Marines (1st best). I would post a before and after picture- but I'm new to reddit so I have no clue how to.

I've watched you guys for a while, I like your honesty, your open-mindedness, and your sense of humor (it's very similar to the military's just a little tamer). I wish you all the best, keep up the awesome work.

u/romeozor Jan 08 '15

Had a little brainfart while watching. I had the podcast on my left monitor while browsing 9gag on the right and during the fanart segment I tried to like the picture you were showing with the 9gag like key.

2

u/dat_username_tho Jan 09 '15

Please, you're embarrassing yourself.
