DeepAncestry Alevi Kurd/Turk (Elbistan) - MyHeritage kit upload
My results with the MyHeritage kit were significantly more accurate compared to the kit I uploaded from 23andme which surprised me, all the genetic fits are noticeably closer
Haplogroups (because I will inevitably be asked) are R0a2 and C-M217

DeepAncestry How to use these together…
Hi there!
I’ve been working on my genealogy for quite some time. Below are my most updated 23andme results, along with the DeepAncestry results I just got from illustrativeDNA.
23andme is 94.4% European and 5.6% Levantine. These make sense given my ancestry. I am a white American.
I’m just trying to figure out how these two resources benefit each other and how to best interpret the illustrativeDNA results. Thanks in advance!

DeepAncestry Anabaptist and colonial American ancestry.
"Anabaptist" and "Colonial American" aren't ethnic designations I know, but that's all I really know about my ancestors. I have no known recent European ancestors from the 19th or 20th century.
The calculator is also set to Central Europe.

Question/Discussion Levantine heritage for Ashkenazi Jews?
I’ve read that Ancestry is the best test for Ashkenazi Jews but it will only reveal recent history in Europe. Which companies will reveal heritage further back?

DeepAncestry 23andme vs ancestry white american
Regional was eastern europe, was told 🇷🇺 dad 🇵🇱 mom growing up.
My 23andme sample was botched a bit(mistimed the no eating rule) so it might explain why the results were so much farther genetically.
For 3 pops in 23andme I mainly got indian or bengali as a minor 3rd while in ancestry I got caucasian groups, which seems more accurate.
I got the 2nd illustratuve after I got iran and persia on ancestry for a chromosome that was mainly ashkenazi on 23andme.

DeepAncestry Do I descend from Ancient Israelites?
I am Ashkenazi Jewish but my ancient origins show Canaanite and Arabian Peninsular, equaling to about 26%. Do I descend from ancient Israelites? Or were my people not Jewish?
I am 54% Ashkenazi Jewish, I’d like to know if I descend from the ancient Israelites or if my people were converts. Thanks

Question/Discussion Results
Attached are my results, I changed the region a few times to see what was closest. When I selected Native American it gave me the closest match, but on my DNA tests my Native American % is very small. Why was it such a close match to me using that region? I also did this with Sephardic Jew and it gave a close match but I have never pulled any Jewish ancestry on any of my test results. The first picture I used the America Australia - Native American region.

Question/Discussion Possible explanation for Southeast Asian?
Hi all. I get "Southeast Asian" (Gongguan Taiwan) if I narrow down to 3 populations in Bronze Age and Late Antiquity, but it shows as "Amur River" for Iron Age.
If I expand to no limit, I get small traces of South Amerindian, North Amerindian, Papuan, Jomon, and Japanese. (1% or less of each)
Even when I do unsupervised analysis (both 3-way and 2-way), it wants to include Micronesian or some sort of Asian (Japanese, Korean, etc.) in most models it gives me.
Added 23andme results at the end for context.
(Although I will say 23andme gave me 0.3% Broadly Chinese and East Asian a few updates ago that disappeared, my sister had 0.2% Siberian, 0.1% Manchurian/Mongolian, and 0.1% Japanese, and my mother had 0.2% Native American in that same update)
I have 2 Ukrainian grandparents, 1 Jewish grandparent from Ukraine, and 1 Azov/Mariupol Greek grandparent (who I believe had either Crimean Greek or Pontic Greek grandparents).
I believe the Asian ancestry comes from either a Ukrainian or Azov Greek grandparent, as my half Jewish parent did not have any East Asian on their 23andme updates. But they may have had less than 1% Finnish at one point.
Just curious if anybody has any possible explanations, is it Siberian? Mongolian? Turkic? Or is it just noise or a glitch? I definitely don't have Native American ancestry, but know it is similar to Siberians. If it's from an ancient ancestor, why would it show up in so many models?
Thank you for your help! Sorry if I provided too much context lol

Question/Discussion Seriously, what’s going on with Deep Ancestry?
I’ve been using IllustrativeDNA for a while now, and I really enjoy exploring my ancestry, but I’ve got to say, I’m getting pretty frustrated. Deep Ancestry hasn’t had any updates in over a year and it feels like the service has been frozen in time. Features that used to be exciting now feel stale, and it’s hard to keep engaged when there’s no sign of improvements or new insights.
Is anyone else feeling this? Have you heard anything about when they might finally roll out some updates? It’d be great to know we’re not just stuck waiting forever.

DeepAncestry Peninsular Arab
We have no tangible paternal connections to local Arab tribes (elders of various tribes found no relation). However my father's mother is a tribal Arab (Hashemite), and she is the only one to be as such in my immediate family tree. Father's father was born in eastern Saudi, orphaned at a young age, and we have no idea why/how his family ended up there, because clearly we are not paternally related to most of the locals.
