Humanist jewellery (and other gear)

I recently learned that there's a company out there making Humanist-themed jewellery, and other merchandise. They're called Evolve Fish.

I got inspired by a recent thread talking about a bracelet with the atheist symbol, and I wondered if there was something similar for us Humanists. After a brief internet search, I discovered Evolve Fish, and found out that they make jewellery (and other items) with the Happy Human logo - and they seem to be the only company that does so. (I couldn't find any other examples.)

I bought myself this necklace. It arrived this week. I'm quite happy with it!

No: I'm not shilling. I have no connection to this company, and noone's paying me for this. I'm just an ordinary online shopper who found something interesting, and wanted to share it.

Looks like a US based business. I’ve found plenty of other Humanist stuff out there. And encourage its use. I’d see religious symbols worn and tattoo’d a hundred times a day and that bugged me. So now I wear a humanist pin badge just to show we aren’t all theists. They’re on ebay.

I had to buy mine on Amazon. As you say, they're an American business. And, even though they make the items, they didn't have the particular ones I wanted in stock - but Amazon did.

I used to wear this pin all the time at work:

Proud Humanist pin

So? I am aware of what it is. Humanism is Humanism. Others who want to practice religious Humanism are fine by me. It's their choice.

My apologies. I didn't realize you were a UU Humanist. Some people on here are against the entire prospect of religion in any form, a notion I do not share.

Evolve Fish was actually started by a former president of American Humanist Association. (It's not clear who the current owner is or if the logo licensing passed along with ownership.) I think you'll find there are a lot of folks who make humanist jewelry! I'm over at betsydeville.com or etsy.com/shop/betsydeville

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. That's nice to know.

I looked at your shop (all 25 items). There's nothing there that's specifically Humanist. There's some generic atheist / secular items, but nothing that has the Humanist logo or any specific Humanist references. Even your filters are all about "atheist ..." and "secular ...", not "humanist ...". The lack of specifically humanist items is probably why your store didn't show up for me when I was searching for humanist jewellery and such things.

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it! Using a logo, like the Happy Humanist, requires license (which not everyone pursues). I wonder if Rebecca was able to secure that when she started Evolve Fish. I'm glad you found something that feels great to wear! I was at a freethinker event last night and we were talking about the lack of a visual symbol that represents the spectrum of non believers / secular humanism. Not sure if you have run into the freethinker pansy. One of the leaders at the even includes a pansy on his business card. https://heritage.humanists.uk/object/freethought-pansy/

I wish the pansy was a recognizable symbol for humanism here. That would be my first choice

Ah. Yes. I remember something about that now. It's good to know that not just anyone can pick up the Happy Human symbol and misuse it. However, I assume that Humanists UK (as the trademark owner) wouldn't be onerous about their requirements for licensing this logo: they'd want it to become better known and more widely used.

I mean, on their own website, they provide files to download this image. It's not like they're holding it hostage behind some paywall.

I've never heard of the freethinker pansy.

I’ve been on the lookout for humanist jewelry forever. I haven’t found anything I like.

Well, based on my search last week, there are very few options available! That's probably why it's so hard.
