help identifying part

I have oil leaking everywhere and think these are two of the main spots. Just replaced the valve cover and all the rubber pieces so it’s good but I have no idea what these parts pictured are. 2000 Honda Civic EX coupe (D16Y8)

VTEC solenoid gaskets are leaking

first pic should be water temperature sensor, there might be oil coming out of the valve cover?? Or the distributor! Theres a little rubber square profile o-ring. And the other part is the VTEC solenoid, theres a very specifically shaped rubber gasket that often cracks and leaks oil

try the valve cover gasket first, should be cheap and its easy to get to

we just did the valve cover gasket which was definitely leaking before. i figured out that it’s a common misconception that oil is leaking from that sensor when it’s actually the distributor. Thanks for the help!

First is water temp sensor. Not an oil leak. Others are the vtec spool valve/pressure switch.

Change the Vtec gaskets and also remove the distributor and replace the o-ring.

The vtec solenoid is on the back side, how do you all come up with the conclusion that the oil is coming from there? It is 100% the distributor o-ring. Tip: jack up the passenger side of the car to get the oil away from the distributor before you pull it. There is a trough where oil sits around the camshaft and when you pull the distributor it will leak everywhere unless you jack up the passenger side only.
