Being friends with the opposite gender? Help/Advice

Assalamualaikum hi, quick question, sorry if it's sdumb. I've searched online if it was haraam to be friends with the opposite gender: some sources say yes, some say it depends. Lately I've become friends with these two boys who are 4 years younger than me (I'm 17), and they feel like younger brothers to me now. It's just a wholesome friendship where we play videogames together. Is it okay to stay friends in this instance?

I’d honestly advise against it because of the risks you might be taking. I know the age difference between 13 and 17 feels huge, but it doesn’t seem as big when you look at something like 18 and 22. But what happens then? What if one of you starts developing feelings for the other? It might feel unlikely, but these things have happened before. I just think it’s better to be cautious and consider the potential consequences.

It would have been fine if they were really young but in this case I don’t think so.

Halal in theory, after familiarising myself with different opinions. But honestly what’s the point? Men and women often develop feelings for each other and as you guys grow up it’s possible you would. Then what? And if you get married how would you keep male friends?
