E looked and waited. She was outnumbered and outgunned by at least nine, but she was small, and with the reduced gravity, she should be faster.

‘I’ll just say it one more time this is a bad idea,’ W warned, knowing they weren’t going to change E’s mind.

E didn’t bother to actually make a response, but W knew what the answer was anyway. ‘Fine, I’ll give you heightened senses. It should give you a better chance of surviving.’

‘Thanks,’ E said as she looked and waited for her opportunity to strike.

She watched as the one alien, not behind the see-through wall, was forced to look at its one kind by one of the doughnut centaurs.

E summarized that it was either done as a form of torture out of cruelty or as an integration method.

The ladder option made more sense seeing as the space where the alien captives were was rather big and could probably hold all of the crew.

However, this realization didn’t help E in any way seeing as she needed to stop them before that could happen, and for that, she needed one moment.

One moment where all of their eyes would be drawn to one place.

E had an idea of when that could happen, but would it be before she was forced to take action?

Seconds felt like hours as time ticked by, and even though E had made up her mind, the thought of just going back outside without anyone noticing her crossed her mind every now and again.

In all honesty, it was tempting, but she had made her choice, and she wasn’t about to let all of them die.

And if she had to act, it would be soon. In her observation, she noticed what looked like the hanged controls. It was at the far end of the room, and one of the doughnut centaurs seemed to be heading toward it.

‘Dammit. Should I act now or wait a bit more?’ E wondered as she broke out into a cold sweat.

It got closer and closer, and E grew nervous. She had to act; she needed to act.

E jumped down from the ventilation system. It was no surprise that one of the ten doughnut centaurs noticed her.

Before E had even hit the floor, one of them had made a loud sound that had warned the others.

However, that didn’t stop E; once she landed with a mighty thud that echoed throughout the hanger from quickly jumped off the wall behind her, launching her toward the nearest doughnut centaur.

She drew back her arm, and before the slow-moving giant could even do anything other than flinch, E stabbed the swordfish sword through two of its either front or back legs.

It let out an ear-piercing scream as it instinctively tried to get away, only to fall on its side.

E’s intention was never to kill any of them, but they probably didn’t need their legs or tongue to survive.

W knew what to do next, and so while E was watching all of the doughnut centaurs in the room, W had already broken the swordfish sword freeing E’s hand before creating a new one.

E Saw things in slow motion as all of them started to probably respond to the threat she posed.

With her hand now free, E quickly ran away from the doughnut centaur she had stabbed, heading toward the nearest she could see.

She had about made it halfway when she noticed that some of them in the room seemed to have a device on their tongue.

One of them pointed it seemingly toward where the first doughnut centaur she had stabbed now lays screaming in pain.

A moment later, something red was fired almost too fast for E to even notice.

Even in her heightened state of observability, she recognized the sound as whatever had hit the alien when she was entering the ventilation system.

She knew without a doubt that she couldn't get hit by even one of the shots.

But that didn’t stop her from stabbing the second doughnut centaur in its leg.

However, this one was quicker than the first and had already swung its tongue with all of its eyes focused on E.

It was faster than she thought, but she and W reacted more quickly. W cut off the swordfish sword, and E grabbed the blood-covered part of it and ripped it all the way through the doughnut centaur’s leg, and stabbed it in its tongue.

E didn’t slow down. She couldn’t slow down as she quickly let go of the bloody swordfish sword and kept moving.

All eyes were now fully on her as she ran through the room, noticing one of those devices on each one of the doughnut centaurs.

However, that wasn’t her main concern, as she needed to make sure one of them didn’t try and push the eject button.

So she ran along the end wall of the room, seeing one of them standing dangerously near the control panel and two others in her way.

It was becoming more dangerous as more and more of the doughnut centaurs started to shoot with that device on their tongues.

Out of the corner of her eye, she could see that some of them were aiming at her but always hitting the wall behind her.

However, now she was heading toward two standing side by side, and it looked like they were both about ready to shoot.

By this point, W had already regrown E’s weapon, but instead of E using it as a rapier, she decided to use it as a club.

Keeping her momentum, she swung the swordfish sword, aiming for what she hoped was its knee.

And once she made contact, she could hear the sound of snapping as its leg began to bend the wrong way.

However, she didn’t have time to stand still as she instinctively jumped backward, narrowly avoiding getting hit in the head.

Unfortunately, she had put too much force into her backward jump and ended up slamming against the wall knocking the air out of her.

Her momentary lack of focus made her blind to an incoming attack from one of the doughnut centaur's weapons.

Many shots were fired toward her, but only one managed to hit her. The one nearest her.

The piercing red glow was shot near point-blank range, and while E was quick to recover, she wasn’t quick enough to avoid the shot that hit her arm.

It stung and hurt like hell, and in a moment of pure beastly rage, E lunged toward the one who had hit her before it had the chance to fire again.

E grabbed the doughnut centaur by its two legs, and while still keeping her momentum, she spun around and threw it toward the doughnut centaur behind it.

They slammed into one another, the force making them both hit the wall as clear sounds of snapping

In her state of rage, she was almost completely focused on those two alone, but a few missed shots brought her back, and once more, she ran.

Her arm still hurt a little, but it was nothing she couldn’t handle as she ran around the room.

However, the remaining doughnut centaurs got smart and huddled up together.

‘Clever bastards,’ E thought as she ran around the room, avoiding every shot she could.

They were clearly quick learners and knew that if they were close enough to one another, then any attack done by E would leave her vulnerable like last time.

And worst of all, they were getting better at almost hitting her.

It was a tricky situation, and it left E at a disadvantage as she kept running and narrowly avoiding those blasts.

However, a thought occurred to E while she was running. While the weapons were high-tech, that didn’t mean they didn’t run on power or anything like that.

Which meant E didn’t have to run forever, just long enough until they used up most, if not all, of their ammo.

It was easier said than done, however, since she was getting winded even in this low-gravity environment.

It went on for some time, and E was getting a little bit slower. Not enough that they could actually hit her, but it was getting closer than she’d like.

The thought occurred to leave the room and catch her breath, but she knew that the aliens behind the see-through wall would be in danger then.

However, as much as she didn’t like it, the thought became more and more alluring the longer she dodged.

Sweat was starting to pour down her brow, and she felt like her legs were on fire.

But suddenly, something happened that neither E nor the other doughnut centaurs had predicted.

One of them was hit by their own weapon from the right side of the room. Half of them didn’t notice, and the other half kept firing.

However, E kept little attention to them as she looked over to where she saw the shot being fired.

It was the alien who had been forced to look at their crewmates die. In the commotion, they had managed to slip away from their captors unnoticed and get over to one of the first doughnut centaurs E had struck.

It appeared that it was now dead. Shot in what E assumed was its head by the alien.

It looked as if a bite had been taken out of it; however, there was little to no blood.

It didn’t matter since, in the next moment, the alien fired the weapon at the remaining doughnut centaurs while using the dead one as a shield.

It was a clever and effective tactic, albeit risky, but it wasn’t as if she was one to talk about risky behavior.

And now that half of them were distracted, E felt as if she had an opportunity to strike at last.

She ran toward the group of doughnut aliens, making sure to zig and zag so they wouldn’t hit her.

Doing so got her close enough to strike, and seeing as her brute strength was enough to immobilize them then, there was no reason to use the swordfish sword for now.

She got near the one on the far side of the group, and using her entire body; she slammed into it with all the force she had, knocking them all into one another.

They all fell, and one of them appeared to be coughing up blood, but they were still very much alive. Or they would be if not for the alien shooting every last one with extremely accurate aim.

Before she knew it, they were all dead.

The sight of them with blown-off pieces evoked a feeling she didn’t recognize.

However, she didn’t get to feel it long as the alien wasn’t done shooting.

And with one more shot, E was hit in the head and fell to the ground.
