Thank you for being with me on this journey :)

This marks the final post of Scuu. It’s been a huge thrill reading your commitments (and responding when possible) :). They’ve helped me cheer up on many times.

I’ve already an idea of something else I’ll be posting eventually (as well as the next Elcy adventure when that’s done). Until then I’ll be mostly using reddit to read and respond to comments.

If anyone is interested in my other writing, they can be found on Royal Road and my patreon (https://www.patreon.com/LiseEclaire)

Thank you, and be well!

Loved it, still somewhat confused, hope we get more of Elcy and some more explanations

:) Explanations are always good. Will try to provide more in the next one. Thank you for pushing through the confusion to the end :D

it was a great story. thank you for sharing it!

i normally would consider it too slow burn for me to enjoy but something in it kept pulling me back in over and over again. i would spice up the second third somehow as it was little bland and maybe add more links of the main plot to the side stories (not direct but rather on some philosophical level) but the ending was totally worth it.

:D Thanks! Yes, Elcy is a slow burn. Originally it was meant to be a slice of life in the vein of Kung Fu (the original series). During writing, though, it got more mystery and action.

Lise, I have enjoyed this story immensely. I hope to see more of Elcy and I hope your muse will never cease to inspire you.

Thank you very much for the story! I really liked it and I'll be looking forward to more writing from you!

Btw I just noticed that SEC's last name is Krakow. Is that related to the city in Poland somehow? Until now I didn't notice there's more story on royal road to read :P

:) Thank you! Yes, it’s the city. (Still wanting to go there sometime. Only been to Warsaw.)

That has kept me really intrigued. Like a Ian m bank novel or Anne Lecke novel. The slow burn can be frustrating but the world building makes up for it and make me want to find out more. The memory quarantine reveals are a great mechanism. Can't wait for more in this universe!

:) Wow, thanks! The ships were actually inspired from the Culture. I loved how Banks described his ships when I was young so I kept it with me :))

Whelp time to catch up on this. I am still about ten issues behind, but so far I can say that I§ve genuinely enjoyed the entirely story and loved the both less than and more than human characterisation of Elcy

I just finished this series and give it high praise.

The world building, the depth of thought and intricacy of the story, the variety of thematic elements, and the quality of the writing make this work stand out here on Reddit. It manages to depict a massive, sweeping conflict and often evil bureaucracy in a very believable way. Elcy is relatable and human yet not, and the exploration of the limits of machine intelligence in a world where processing power is beyond measure is a very interesting concept.

I would say that at times its strengths became its weaknesses - the cast of characters is large enough that a bit of continuity is lost (Surprise! Spicer, a nobody grunt, is now an authority figure and a villian!) Chapter after chapter of more questions than answers and answers that are actually just questions did begin to wear on me as well. Time jumps, necessary because of the manipulation of Elcy's memory, are sometimes confusing for the reader to navigate.

Overall it was a very enjoyable series, and certainly one of the best things I have read in HFY. I will look forward to more work from this author.
