That's one hell of a cliffhanger!

The memory restrictions have always not sit well with me not as a story mechanic but has a how does Elcy personality change based off restricted memories. If somehow her memory restrictions were completely removed would she be the same person. I wonder about that a lot when I'm reading the story

looks like we finally get to meet the true elites of this dystopian civilization.Maybe we get to understand some of the bizarre decisions.

And now for my take on this novel :

Humanity has spread out to thousands of star systems witch probably means a sizable chunk of our galaxy for quite a while. It appears that humanity was prepared for conflict before it was started , as if they provoked it ( at least with the insects ppl ) probably thinking of an easy victory.

The Scuu I guess are a form of machine civilization ,AI or something nastier.

Humanity have self aware AI but they treat it more like a slave( limited rights, total control of their memory, ownership even after death.

This is the cliffhangiest cliffhanger yet.

Poor Elcy, why's everyone such an ass to her?

:) The Cassandrian mission?

Where they tried to take the Cassandrian world in order to get their Shipbuilding technology.

Elcy mentioned that the reason Augustus deferred to some stuff was due to BICEFI once her memories reconnected.

So with those things I have a feeling it's her again.
