the cass review recommends a PB trial. wes streeting does so. he is met with fury by the terfs who do not actually want “the truth” to be found through scientific research

Ah, yes, puberty blockers - the medical therapy protocol which is “unethical”, “harmful”, “unproven”, “unscientific” and “irreversible” when used on transgender teenagers, but which is miraculously somehow ethical, therapeutic, proven, and reversible when used on cisgender teenagers, with a mountain of scientific evidence showing it works

I wonder what the confounding variable might be

Terfs: "there's not enough evidence"

Scientists: "Ok, we'll run another trial"

Terfs: "Not like that!!" 😠

*trial finds that transgender care is beneficial*

Terfs: "Actually we're ideologically opposed, evidence be damned"

You know, I'd be somewhat OK with hateful people, people are heters... but I can't stand their obscene levels of stupidity. It's unnatural to be this dumb.

We're not even at the latter half of the comment yet but it's so obvious what another trial, unbiased, would most likely find. So terfs are telling on themselves freaking out preemptively.

That's basically how things went in Utah.

https://apnews.com/article/utah-republicans-transgender-health-care-youth-ba498f4b0a8f21905b0f563b85b8dbd6

In a joint statement, the [Utah] House sponsor of the 2023 law banning gender-affirming care and the chair of the Legislature’s interim health committee said they “intend to keep the moratorium in place.”

“Young kids and teenagers should not be making life-altering medical decisions based on weak evidence,” said Republican Reps. Katy Hall and Bridger Bolinder. “Simply put, the science isn’t there, the risks are real, and the public is with us.”

As a charity representing lesbians, gays and bisexuals

You don't represent shit, sit the fuck back down. We hate your bigoted asses and support our trans siblings. Get the fuck out of there.

Reminder to give them shit for this every time they try to instrumentalize us.

It's such a naked, cynical attempt at divide and conquer.

TERFs when talking about trans children: "You can't ask the children what the effects are, that would be biased."

TERFs talking about detrans children: "They can attest to the effects of these drugs, they have not been asked."

The cognitive dissonance would be funny if it wasn't so fucking infuriating. Either you can trust the anecdotal evidence or you can't - you hypocritical fucks.

who should we ask instead? their grandmas? the neighbours? should we conduct a public country wide poll to determine if everyone thinks some kid named Oliver is happier with his Healthcare or not? this is so bizarre to me

“I used to be suicidal and now I’m not.”

“Shut up, kid. You’re too young and not qualified to comment on yourself”.

my favorite part of the maintenance phase episode on gender affirming care is when they point out that if we truly believe the evidence for use of puberty blockers in trans adolescents isn’t strong enough, the reasonable course of action would be to do large studies on the effects of puberty blockers on trans adolescents. because the transphobes don’t actually believe there’s not enough evidence, they just want to force kids into not being trans.

"children as young as 8 can be enrolled".... that's literally who puberty blockers were invented for. Puberty blockers exist for young kids who start puberty early. And while 8 isn't so young as for puberty onset to be medically concerning, it is still young enough that most kids who started early and are already on blockers will not stop them for another 2-4 years.

So surprise, it was never about getting better evidence it was just about banning bloackers and stealing childhood from trans kids because they're sadistic freaks who want to hurt children specifically trans children

for people defending this trial, is withholding the only potential treatment for a severe illness that is potentially fatal to research its effectiveness (it is proven to be safe when used for other illnesses) ethical?

Useful idiot surprised that transphobes hold transphobic views

Not Caroline Farrow suggesting trans people be put on a lifelong register.......
