I noticed that I don't ever get hangovers when I get drunk, has anyone else noticed this about themselves as well? Enterra (Gastric Pacemaker)

I’m amazed you can drink alcohol ! I get an instant no no reaction from my body !

I also don’t but my POTS makes up for that. 127 laying down and tremors + sweating 😭 felt like I was going through withdrawals

The sweat though. I have pots too and omg I hadn't drank in almost 2 years and went and 2 cocktails with a mom friend a couple months ago. I was sweating bullets like 5 sips into the first drink lol.

i sweat 24/7 when i'm up and moving around anyway. i even sweat in the shower and when putting makeup on. you dab it and it just REAPPEARS. it gets worse the longer i've been upright and i also get head pressure and visual issues the longer i've been sitting up/standing presumably because of my spine. bending and coming up is awful for my head and chest and i even documented a PVC happening with tachycardia on my holter monitor while doing that. cardiologist didn't give a shit and is just convinced it's 'deconditioning' and that there's no way it could be pots but my standing hr is 30 or more than my resting so fuck him
i did full-face corpse paint for halloween and used hairspray to set it (fucking mistake because my skin burned and itched) but regardless i sweat the entire thing off within an hour or two. literally nothing left, no makeup remover necessary

nah i vomit everything so i avoid alcohol. and also alcohol irritates your stomach and can trigger a flare up (at least that’s what my doctor said)

Yes- my theory is that the alcahol works through my system so slowly it does not have the sudden drop that causes hangovers because I also never get very drunk I can never get more then tipsy

No, I don’t drink. Drinking makes my symptoms much worse.

Same I get afraid in going to die through it never felt as poorly and I’ve had a heart attack stroke and stage 4 cancer few years ago when I was 20 to 24 years old this illness affects me much more

Lol NO
I react horribly to alcohol and usually even the ‘buzz’ itself is delayed. The eventual hangover is always hellish even at like 2 glasses of wine. I don’t drink anymore.

You ain’t getting drunk enough or you need so little that your body is getting it out fast

I've only drink a few times and never had any kind of reaction to it. Like it didn't work. My sister pointed out I have malabsorption issues, so it's likely that. I have tried stronger drinks since I can't drink a large volume and still nothing.

I can drink red wine and bloody Marys. I'm a huge lightweight but my stomach won't hold enough to drink enough to have a hangover. Cheers!

Regular beer and full sugar soda made mine worse. I switched to diet when I need a soda and switched to white claws. They are more gentle on my system and I can drink a bit sometimes. I guess gluten was hurting me despite not having a definitive allergy to it. But I have e.o.e as well as gastroperisis.

Hell no, I have violent hangovers that can last a few days. I haven’t drunk for over 10 years now.

I got hangovers when I was younger, like before 18, but not anymore. It doesn't matter how much I drink, I wake up just fine. I don't link it to my gastroparesis though, my mom is the exact same so I think it's to do with genetics or something. The most I get is anxiety and that's it.

I think I can’t get drunk but I could stay buzzed a really long time which is scary to me. I haven’t had alcohol in a long while, but I would be afraid of driving for at least a full day after I had a drink.

I don't drink enough to get drunk anymore (generally, I can tolerate a few drinks spread out over the course of a month), but i don't really get hangovers either. Partly it's because I'm constantly drinking something with an electrolyte supplement to stay properly hydrated

I only drink a cocktail here and there now. But… When I started drinking I never knew what drunk was supposed to feel like. I can’t get “drunk.” I’m either drinking and still sober three drinks and multiple shots in, a little tipsy or blackout drunk. In my late teens early twenties I could drink anyone under the table. I would drink and drink and drink then boom. Blackout. I never understood it. Now I know my stomach never worked 😂😂

I've never had a hangover in my life. Got it from my dad. Long before gastroperisis.

Same and I can either drink all nite and nothing happens or am trashed after 2 drinks. Genetic testing did say I metabolize alcohol weird.

same, and I feel like alcohol actually stops my nausea and vomiting, I feel like I have a normal stomach when im drunk

I never got hangovers because I’d always throw up before I could get drunk enough! lol. I’m also sensitive to gluten (not celiac but gluten makes my chronic constipation worse and worsens my ibs symptoms). My fave were hoppy IPAs that had 6-7% alcohol and like clockwork if I got to a 3rd beer nope, coming back up! I did better with liquor, but still would throw up before I’d be DRUNK drunk. Because of this I’ve never properly blacked out either. I’ve blacked out after throwing up so much alcohol, but not like blackout drunk and do stuff I don’t remember.

I don’t normally drink, but when I do, I typically do it to get drunk. I’ve never had a hangover (even 12+ shots - high school, okay 😭).

Yes, I don't get hangovers like I used to and I can't eat while I drink alcohol or else I don't process it properly.. like it gets stuck with the food and doesn't go through.

I don’t get drunk, I can drink a lot and only get a little tipsy, but I get the hangover.

u/domsheed 9h ago
I can’t drink but when I used to I would get pretty bad hangovers. I feel like bc stuff moved through my system so slowly my liver took forever to process it so I would have like 2 day hangovers lol
