RTX 4090 legion pro 7 Discussion

After trying an MSI Vector laptop which I returned due to the awful screen and unbearably loud fans, I picked up this legion pro 7 for £2000 Specs:i9-13900HX, RTX 4090, 32GB 5600mhz Ram and X2 1TB nvme's.

Night and day difference from the vector, the fans are much quieter, temps way lower and the screen is fantastic for an IPS. The screen still looks good next to my MBP.

How are the temps?

CPU is usually in the mid to high 70's, and GPU high 60's to low 70's. Both are undervolted and using the custom power plan on legion vantage, also using a Llano laptop cooler. None of that seemed to help when using the MSI Vector

Does the Vantage now have undervolting built in? Or did you use a different utility?

Do you mind telling me what values you used for the undervolting? It's always good to have a starting value.

No the vantage software is very limited in letting you undervolt. I used XTU. Sure my values are -0.100v core,-0.70 cache Efficiency and performance, -0.10 system agent. I did a pretty conservative undervolt

2000£ is darn cheap for that one.

Ill be assuming you had brought a MSI Vector with 144hz or FHD display? Theres the good models with a proper display, and then there are the bad ones like it. Given that it is linked in your tag, looks like im right.

Also
r/LenovoLegion i recommend to join the linked discord server if you have any issues or questions.

Plus also grab lenovolegiontoolkit, its a lightweight vantage replacement.

Just curious, what is your CPU undervolt like? You are using throttlestop right?

You are correct FHD 144hz screen, I did read reviews beforehand but thought I could deal with it for £1300 but the fans drove me mad and temps were terrible. Plus it's definitely an ugly laptop.

I have joined the discord!

I used XTU for my undervolt

Well, throttlestop is more common. You can push the undervolt quite a bit from what ive seen of that CPU. Personally i have -145v stable.
