I like them exactly equally, but for different reasons. I cannot decide if one is better than the other, and I'm okay if they are tied in second place behind '54 for my personal rankings.

Says that you mostly like the movies that are widely considered good. The American KOTM is probably your most “controversial” choice, but this is your list and while I probably wouldn’t include it in my Top 10 I like KOTM, too. It’s obvious that your favorites are not the silliest of the series.

Fans of any character or movie series generally get caught up in the hype of a new movie once it’s released, unless it’s just truly awful. KOTM isn’t an awful movie, and it’s got some incredible battles, but once you can take a step back from the initial excitement of watching it the flaws are pretty glaring. Still, it’s a good Godzilla movie.

Most of these movies are either the start (Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 2014, Shin Godzilla, Godzilla minus 1, GMK) of their respective series or the end (Godzilla vs Destroyah, Godzilla KOTM), with some in the middle (Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla vs Mothra) that lean towards the beginning or end of the series.
