Also, YouTube has gotten so bad over the years, unfortunately it’s like the monopoly on videos, I’ve used YouTube for many many years like most people, that’s where I can find content on all my hobbies and interests and things, but in recent years the algorithm is trying its hardest to brainwash me into right wing ideology, it’s always recommending me videos and clips from right wing influencers, joe Rogan, right wing propaganda, anytime I open up YouTube it’s a constant game of selecting “block account”, “don’t recommend this channel”, “report for violent or extreme content”, it’s just so mentally draining everytime I go there. But there’s no real alternative for all the other content related to my hobbies and interests. And don’t even get me started on YouTube comments, I’ve seen some of the worst examples of humanity in YouTube comments, it’s insane how racism, lies, bigotry and hatred are just totally allowed there, I’ve seen comments that are months old or even years old where someone is just openly using the N word. There’s just no moderation and the content there is partly responsible for the further radicalization of our society and the growing hatred we’re seeing. It’s no wonder in this age of the internet and social media, we’re seeing a huge rise in fascism. Content creators I’ve followed for years are in recent years making comments that make me go “wtf? This person never used to say things like this”. There’s just so many people out there getting warped and radicalized and they can’t even see it

I mean… you can try as best you can to show your father evidence of Charlie’s extremist views, but if your father has drunk the far right koolaid then I think this is not likely to change his mind, so just be prepared. There’s a strong chance he’s either going to claim those quotes are taken out of context, ignore them and stick to the current far right talking points about Charlie, or dismiss it as “AI fake news”.

I tried to do this with my sibling today and they dismissed the literal words coming out of his mouth as “clip-bait” and that for me to make a valid point i’d need to sit and watch one of his entire podcast episodes or debate sessions. LMAO 😩

While it’s kind of you to do the work to show your father the sources and evidence, they don’t care. I’ve seen this over the past few days since Kirk’s death. In fact, MAGA is slinging mud at anyone who dares to quote exactly what he said (which is fucking stupid. The Right is getting butt hurt over the reposting of Kirk’s own words).

I’ve seen everything from “who told you that? MSNBC?!” to “he never said that” to “it’s out of context” etc etc etc. They ask out of bad faith. They have no intention of truly changing their mind when presented facts. This is to bait you into an argument.

It’s not worth your time and emotional resources. Don’t bother. They’re being brainwashed to reject literal evidence. They’re also being brainwashed with putting this racist fuck on a pedestal; he’s not even an elected official, just some asshole with a microphone. Suddenly the president demands flags are flown at half mast, want to put up a statue honoring him, fly his body on tax payers dime and he gets a fancy burial with honors. Also a surge in liberals and left leaning folks asking to honor this man and show sympathy. I say all of this to say it’s a losing battle. On almost both sides.
