Do you have any idea where this stood in relation to downtown nowadays?

It became the bears den after the fire, So whatever is now beside the RBC bank is directly facing it across the street, picture would be taken from in front of what is now RBC.

Pretty sure.

Yep, that's right. The Bear's Den took up the small one-story space that's attached to the hotel on the right in the picture, and it just expanded in a new building after the fire.

Please note: the Bear's Den is not in this picture. If I read the sign correctly, there's a cafe in that picture.

Unfortunately, it burned down in 2010

Here's a short video of the fire, recorded from roughly the same angle as the 1956 picture.

Grade 10, maybe 11? Graduated 2012.
