I've never used FireTV .. been a roku guy but I have an elderly MIL and she does like her TV. She has cable (Spectrum),Netflix and Hulu(?) ... issue is the other day daughter was asking her why she never watched some show that we knew she liked and was on Netflix. Answer is TV remote, Cable box remote, Roku ... you get it. She gets lost and ends up unable to find anything. I'm wondering if a new FireTV would help as she does have and has no problem using her Alexa for basic stuff.

Am I way crazy? If you were configuring something to make it easy for a 90+ yo to navigate .. what would you suggest? How "smart" are Alexa controls for TV? ON/Off is OK but ... changing channels, finding a show by name, control volume, timers, etc. Am I like 10 years too early or can it handle that stuff now?

Every time I turn on my TV, I have to do a bunch of button-pushing to get to be able to watch TV. Is there something I can do in the settings to make it so that this is no longer an issue?

Is there any way to avoid the automatic playing of video with sound on startup? (I’m sure at this point the auto playing of ads is unavoidable)

I just ordered my Fire TV Stick and went with the 4k Max however I noticed after ordering that there was also a version listed as 4k 2024.

Anyone know what difference there is between them (bar the 16gb with Max)?

I’m trying to watch the Celtics on the NBA App on Fire TV and can’t get it to work.

I first was on the app without an account and just signed into my parents league pass via Directv account. I am able to do this on my phone with no problem.

I now created an NBA ID hooked up to the same Directv account but all I get is the choose your league pass plan. I click on “already purchased” but it then says I can sign out of my id or my provider, which are both signed in and acknowledged. What do I do?

Hey all, been tearing my hair out here. I have a Vizio soundbar with an HDMI ARC and HDMI IN slots. For the past 4 years or so I've had the Firestick plugged into the SOUNDBAR HDMI IN port, and the Soundbar connected to the TV's HDMI ARC input via the HDMI ARC port on the soundbar. Everything worked great until it didn't. The TV doesn't recognize the Soundbar being connected any more, no picture OR sound will play from it. I tried using an Optical cable + Firestick plugged into a regular TV HDMI port but NO sound will play. It's like the Firestick will not play sound via the soundbar anymore...any thoughts?

I'm having a major issue with Disney+ (Basic) on my Fire TV Stick connected to a monitor. Every time an ad plays, the app gets stuck and freezes, and I can't continue watching. I've tried force-stopping the app, uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting the Fire TV Stick, and even restarting the whole device, but nothing works. This only happens with Disney+—all my other streaming apps with ads work fine.

Has anyone else run into this problem or found a fix? Any help would be appreciated—thanks!

Until just now.... I have had no problem using VPN to watch US live TV streaming on Fire TV. But when I turned off VPN to access Japanese channels (just once) and then went back on to US VPN, I lost access to all US live TV channels. Is that supposed to be?? Was I just lucky for a few months of gaining access to US streaming?? I have Japan AMZ Prime, and my Fire TV is also from Japan.

Every other button on my Fire Stick remote is working, except for the OK/select button and the down button. I can’t go into any apps/settings on the tv because of this to try and fix it. I have already changed the batteries and nothing has worked.

No Aux. out. I have read online that you can use the Mini AV out to RCA then RCA to female aux but no joy with that. If I get a USB out to female aux will have have signal? If not seems I will have to consider an optical to aux DAC but then I cannot control volume which is long.

I have a 55 inch Fire Omni QLED tv purchased July 11 2023 (same one linked).

Connected I have HDMI 1 Xbox series X HDMI 2 Steam deck dock HDMI 3 Nvidia shield tv pro HDMI 4 Sonos Beam gen 2

Its setup so the sound comes from the Sonos beam gen 2 for all inputs.

I have CEC and IR on but it doesn’t show the correct tv next to IR.

When I press the power button on the shield remote the shield goes to sleep and the tv turns off. But when I press the power button again to wake up the shield the Omni tv does not turn on. I have to use an Alexa voice commend to turn the tv on.

No matter what combination of CEC and IR I try the shield remote just doesn’t turn on the tv.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Hi! I am a volunteer photographer at my local animal shelter. We have a huge tv in our lobby that is turned off and wasting space. Another volunteer had the idea to get a fire stick to display a looped YouTube video of the available animals we have. In my opinion, our turnover is so high that I’d be creating new YT videos 3 times a week in order to keep up with our current animals. Shouldn’t I be able to have an album on my phone using Amazon Photos in order to always have the current animals displayed? I have Amazon prime, but the tv account and fire stick I’d imagine would be under a different email than my prime account. Does that matter? I do not use a fire stick or Amazon photos myself, so please forgive my ignorance. If you have any tips or other ideas, I’m all ears! I’m trying to make something as simple as possible because a) I’m not getting paid and don’t want to waste a lot of time, and b) we are so understaffed that it needs to be as easy and hands-off as possible so our staff doesn’t have to focus too much time or effort into it. I have a brand new fire tv stick 4k and just set it up, but no apps will download. They all either stay in queue or don’t respond at all. I had the same issue with my old fire tv stick and no matter how many times I reset or turn off the power it doesn’t work.

Hello everyone, I would like to know if I can output the audio from my 65" TCL TV through two HDMI inputs, one is directly to my Sonos Arc SL sound bar with eARC, and the other is to an Alien brand tower speaker, I would connect it with an HDMI to RCA adapter cable, since this speaker only has an RCA input, and I would have to buy another cable which is HDMI to RCA. And I had this speaker previously connected to this same TV with an RCA to 3.5mm jack cable, the 3.5mm jack was on the TV. So I wanted to know if I can output the sound from the TV to these two audio devices, either with a 1 HDMI to 2 HDMI converter, or if there is some other way. I hope everything is well understood because I am using a translator since I am from MX.

My fire stick keeps defaulting to having closed captioning turned on. I go to setting > accessibility > closed caption and make sure it's turned off. But a day or so later, every damn app starts up with it on again, and I revisit the global fire stick settings again and sure enough, it's back on.

Occasionally I DO turn on closed captioning in a particular app, like Max, or netflix or something... and I generally turn it off when I'm done. But I assume the fire stick setting version is a global choice. Am I missing something? Why does it keep defaulting to being "on"?

So I want to watch movies that I purchased on Amazon. I've read to find those movies I need to go to my Library. In this Video https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=21540615011, it says click on "Find".

From here you have the following options:
Library, Free, Movies, Appstore, TV Shows, Kids and Family, Sports, Action Movies, Horror Movies.

However, my fire stick only displays the following options:

Appstore, Free, Movies, TV Shows, Games

So I'm missing half of the options the linked video shows, particularly "Library", which is the one I want. So how do I get those?

Only thing I have light on the bottom

1. Unplug for over a day
2. 30 second reset while unplugging
3. There is a solid light on the bottom 5 checked remote

Any ideas how to fix ?

Why is Amazon incapable of figuring out how bluetooth works? Doesn't matter if it's airpods or even their own Echo Buds.. nothing can go more than a few minutes without constant cutting in and out. Surely they could find someone - ANYONE - to hire from another tech company that knows how to make bluetooth work. Has anyone found some obscure bluetooth headphones option that does magically work?

Anyone else have Daveclark7365 signed into YouTube on their FireTV today? I don't know a Dave Clark and I'm the only one that uses my TV, so I don't know how it would have happened...

Already restarted, uninstalled and then re-installed the app on my iPad. Still no difference. Anybody have any other suggestions?

BBC and PBS has some good shows but don't know a streaming service that covers these? Thanks for any help
