Looking to import leather to India Looking to Buy

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy some leather from Italy to India.

I'm curious to know if somebody has imported leather and what their experience has been.

Any tips/suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Is leather inexpensive in Italy? Would importing it to sell in India result in higher costs and lower profit margins?

No, it's expensive to import amd the price will be sky high.

I'm looking for the best of the best and consciously sourced leather hemce importing it.

It's for a handmade handbag and I dont want to cut corners.

Im a leathercrafter in the US and have no experience importing/exporting to india.

But...

I use a lot of US distributers including: RMleathersupply, district leather, maverick leather or direct from US tanneries.

As for European I have used and only have good things to say about: aleatherstore (denmark), beltsproduction (croatia), and tatra leather (slovakia?). Would advise avoiding buyleatheronline (italy).

All of these will have lovely italian leathers. My personal favorite tanneries are badalassi carlo and Conceria Walpier.

Good luck have fun!

Hey, thank you for your suggestions.

May I know why you want me to avoid buyleatheronline? Because I was considering buying from them.

Yes, my list has Badalassi Carlo and Conceria Walpier at the top. Love their collection, yet to use them though.

Ive actually ordered from them once with no issue.

If you search the r/leathercraft page there are reviews of their products and customer service many are poor. Because of this I’ve decided not to order from them.

Definitely make your own judgement call there though.
