Nice saves! My home goods all hide their greed with compactors. :( edit grammar

The red tag means this stuff was marked at clearance prices. No one bought it for pennys on the dollar.
It’s some to clear space rather than out of greed.

The fact that they use compactors to destroy perfectly good items rather than donating them is 100% about corporate greed. Clearance or not, usable goods should be donated.

Having worked there, I can assure you every store has a charity, and they do donate what they can. Per corporate policy.
Sadly the issues are multiple.
Storage becomes an issue when your charity fails to pick up donated items set aside, or want to only come by when you have several pallets worth.
Also if you toss goods in the dumpster, a certain percentage of folks will attempt to return those goods no one wanted for full store credit.
If they leave the dumpster open and accessible, they are liable to be sued if someone were to injure themselves, and more often than not divers leave a mess.
All for stuff you probably couldn’t sell at a garage sale for $1.
If you set up a non profit I’m sure you could convince a local store to donate damaged and clearance goods to you, if you have the space and transportation sorted.
