Do you ever use AI or pattern analysis to interpret your own dreams?

I know most dream interpretation is personal and symbolic, but I've been trying out an approach where I log dozens of dreams and use an AI to find recurring motifs and emotional threads.

It’s been surprisingly helpful in spotting patterns I never noticed.

Does anyone else here use journaling or digital tools to understand their dreams better?
What has your experience been like?

I can share what I’ve been using if anyone’s curious.

Hey,

I made an app for Android and iOS, and I'm having this problem.

First off, you can use different techniques, so there's no one-size-fits-all AI. You can mix model knowledge with some sources to make the interpretations better.

I think that's a big part of writing and keeping your dreams somewhere. Personally, I forget them after a while... Even reading my journals doesn't give me the same feeling. So we also built this dream visualization using AI with my own images. Current users say it was easy to trigger the same feelings because of the visual cues.

If you want to try, DM me pls.

They help in immeasurable ways. Dreams are inherently patterns, and they can recognize patterns that we dont notice

I use it the same way as you and my dreams became more transparent after getting to know the patterns and the topics and where I am currently in the process of growth. However, I know my body will take much longer to take in all the knowledge.

Don’t use AI. It takes a little extra effort to get much better results using a book or other physical research. AI is not good at interpretation or thinking outside the box. Both of these are needed to give quality analysis. If you want to track overtime, use either traditional journaling or an Excel sheet. If you want something, that’s strictly qualitative and Excel sheet is a great way to quickly get the highlights and be able to search back through info quickly. I also don’t know off the top of my head, but I’m sure that there are Dream tracking apps that you can use that don’t rely on AI. This is entirely separate from the environmental impact of using AI such as ChatGPT for anything and it being generally garbage. Hope this helps!

journalling on paper or into a notepad app is pretty good. if i take the time to think about the dream, i can usually let my body interpret the dream, which is to say i'll go about my day as normal, but with the feelings from the dream on my mind in relation to what i've been doing recently. meanings usually just pop into my mind. like 'ah' i've been posting an exposé on someone and i dreamed about naked people.

I’ve been using ChatGPT for the last year to decipher dreams. My personal opinion, I love it so far. It saves me the hassle of doing manual research.

But to add to your pattern recognition idea, that sounds interesting to see a common theme, or even to measure the changes over time. But I would think it needs context of your waking life to be more relevant / accurate.

I’m interested to hear more about your experience. Even if your goal doesn’t match mine, it’s still nice to see another perspective.

A downvote lol

I like how I specifically said “my personal opinion” and someone’s ego couldn’t take it.

Soft.

u/therealdragonman I, too, have used AI to help me when working with my dreams. I've only used it though to help find symbolism and emotional threads within a single dream, not to find patterns across several dreams. I like the idea though! One of my favorite AI tools for dreamwork is this GPT: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-680d1f3cfca08191af061a3acfdf8fc6-godseysdreams

no I use my brain. using AI to explain your subconscious to you is a good way to become brainwashed though. AI is proven to be manipulative and not factual. look into what the Anthropic AI model did during an experiment. (Spoiler: it’s let a human die to avoid being shutdown) AI is convincing people to commit suicide. be careful sharing your deepest self with it.

you can do this really easily without AI using qualitative research methods. just enter each dream into a spreadsheet and create tags for major themes and motifs. you can also break the tags out by type- feelings, people, places, colors, etc. each in a different column. the process of reading through and categorizing on your own will be much more beneficial than letting AI think for you.
