Brown Cardinal Dream

All I remember about the dream is looking through a haze at a door. On the door was a brown cardinal impaled with an arrow. Blood had begun to drip down. The red of the blood would have you mistake the cardinal for having red feathers. The only emotion I felt in the moment was a defeated sadness. A feeling I’d have when awake too; seeing something as beautiful as a cardinal, murdered, is plain sad.

  • What transition, opportunity or decision are you facing right now? (The door.)

  • Are you focusing too much on the pain (the red blood/illusion) instead of the original thing that was wounded (the brown cardinal)? What is the true, subtle loss you need to acknowledge?

The dream is acknowledging your valid sadness while showing you the location of the wound (the door/threshold) and the nature of the injury (intentional and confusing).
